Sounds like a go. That's not too much of a problem to do that: at least you don't have to edit an .ini file every time.
Thanks for sharing this. :D |

The Sims only has two resolutions if I recall correctly... 800x600 and 1024x768. So the likelihood of getting it working simply is quite slim. :( |

After testing with a different display res: 1280x768, it's not a widescreen issue: it appears to be associated with Windows mishandling the 1400x1050 and 1680x1050 resolutions. :? So there may be light at the end of the tunnel for 1280x768/800 users and others. Just not WSXGA+ users. {sigh} :( So ba... |

The game is scheduled to be released 'summer 2004' Let's hope. I remember when the demo of Imperium Galactica 3 came out: supported widescreen (at a time when I didn't have a widescreen PC, and the only real way to have widescreen was use a Matrox Parhelia) and looked lovely a polished. I was certa... |

Crashes at load. It installs, it pops up the 'Loading Game' windows screen, and promptly falls over. I've tried the latest patch (1.08 I think) and the various compatibility modes... no joy. I really want to play this again; I think it's one of the more enjoyable RTS's of it's time. (Not to m... |

Thanks for trying it out. Pity it didn't work, but then at least we know that they set out to stop Widescreeners. :( |

What I did was just searched in the C:Program FilesUbisoftSplinter Cell Pandora Tomorrow directory for *.ini and perused all of them for anything that looked like resolutions. Replaced everything I came across with 1680x1050, set Read Only atrib and as in your case too, it still defaults to 640x480... |

I tried Halo and it crashed with a DirectX error when forcing this resolution. Did you have that resolution selectable as a windows res? If not, you need to use PowerStrip to create it in your drivers .inf file. At which point, Halo should run this res happily. :) I know, a bit OT in this thread, b... |

Well i probably will never find the old game in stores but they are making a new one called vampires : bloodlines using the half life 2 engine. Thats the one i'm really looking forward to. Hm. Given how far back Half-Life 2 itself keeps getting pushed (you might have been hacked, Valve, but that ca... |

In fact, it's a pretty good idea to back up any file you think is going to get edited (eg: the .exe file) before you try, so you don't have to go through the whole install again if something goes wrong... |

hey Paradigm shifter, you have anything to do with that Paradigm Shift Battlefield 1942 server?? No, sorry. Don't play BF1942. I think you jinxed me shifter! :) Sorry! I didn't mean to! :) After I wrote that post last night, I fired up BFV and started getting artifacts.. :( So now I'm back down to 342/240 stable... (still not too shabby) Indeed not. That's still a pretty drastic OC. For a laptop, anyway. I'm too nerv... |

Come to think of it, I did also OC the 9600 from 309/195 to 354/240 with Radlinker so maybe that has something to do with the preformance increase too... :) :D I would say "that's cheatin'!" but whatever works. And that's a pretty big OC for a laptop... how much hotter is it running? |

If I'm not mistaken, didn't NT5 and NT5.1 (Win2K and WinXP respectively) both use the same implementation of NTFS? In that case it wasn't NT5.1 that changed anything. The NTFS file system was updated slightly for WinXP. One of the later Service Packs for Win 2k brought it's filesystem in line with ... |

I can't believe that the old game can accept custom resolutions but the new on cannot!...and I hear you cannot even force AA which is why you see all the jagged edges! Kinda makes you wonder exactly what they're doing, doesn't it? I would have thought with the increasing popularity of widesc... |

I've read elsewhere where you can set UT engine games to run in a window. How can I do that so at least if I can't make it widescreen, I can at least play the game unstretched? I wonder if it would work if you set it to a (screen res) sized window? That's what you have to do in Hitman 2. Shouldn't ... |
