from what I'm reading, your real problem is that text needs to be entered into a text file located here: baseDoomConfig.cfg Open this file with the windows notepad program and change the lines you need, then save the file. Then when you start the game up the resolution should be correct. Nothing is ...

f1c has a config.ini file in the root directory which has a resolution setting inside - but it's this weird videomode setting which controls the resolution, and unfortunately the numbers are not universal. You can do trial/error changing that number worse come to worse. 3dconfig.exe should recognize...

I've ordered it, will be delivered on Friday. I'll report as soon as I get it.

Although, it's based on the Command & Conquer Generals engine, so if that flies, this most likely will, also

Paddy, thanks for underscoring the need for a proper glossary here. We are obviously using the same words to describe different things. Here is a pretty workable definition of aspect ratio: http://www.wordiq.com/definition/Aspect_ratio_(image) Aspect ratio generally refers to the proportion of heigh...

and the stretching is down to FOV settings. You're just arguing semantics here, but I guess that's why I'm asking for a glossary. So, yeah, by "distortion free geometry" I mean that a sphere in the center of the camera view should be round, not elliptical (ie. "squashed"). Whether you've got a reall...

While we're on about defining things, Ibrin, I would really like to see a 'Widescreen Gaming Glossary' with technical explanations of Field of View, Viewing Angle, Aspect Ratio, Zoom, Camera Scaling, Cropping, HDTV, Interlacing, etc. It would be great to have plain english explanations to go along w...

FOV is greatly impacted by your distance from, and the size of the display, which really makes it subjective. For example, the proper FOV for sitting 10 feet away from an 84" projection screen will be dramatically different than that of sitting 10 feet away from a 37" plama TV, even though both may ...

indeed, I did misunderstand you. If I had read your first post more carefully, I would have seen you were talking about and iMac not an iBook. My bad. a 17" widescreen desktop LCD monitor is a cool idea I don't recall getting M:TW to run in widescreen properly. Certainly the political portion...

They definitely do look great, but are not the only option. As I said the 17" HP ZD7000 series and the 17" toshiba both use the exact same widescreen LCD panel that the Mac 17" powerbook does, from the exact same OEM vendor. So, if you don't want to abandon your PC usage and current software library...

I have an HP ZD7000 series laptop, which comes with the same 17" widescreen 1440x900 display that that apple powerbook comes with. There's a high end Toshiba model that also uses the same display by the same OEM. I have been quite happily running many games at 1440x900 including UT2k4. Nearly every ...

At E3 I saw it played it on a widescreen HDTV, but I'm not sure of the res or 720p/1080i, etc. The HUD was squashed, but duh.

the stretching is probably your video card drivers filling the aspect. I've got the .exe down finally, and run it, and it works perfectly. Running it at 1440x900 quite nicely. I know there are better ways to do this, but the way that I used this is as follows: Extract to root URU game dir create sho...

in the init folder there's a file called graphics.ini, but there are no plain text settings to edit. I'm not a hexedit master, so I didn't check to see if it was hex editable for resolution. Possibly something to look at, though.
