Racer_S, you have just won an Nvidia 8800 from 2K!!!And as for widescreen, we also want to say we completely understand a user's desire to augment their FOV. BioShock is a harrowing experience, but we don't want anyone to feel limited (or motion sick!). So we are in the process of working on an offi... |

Remember, 2K's Chris Kline originally stated:
"You will see more in widescreen. We use a different projection matrix; there is no squashing or stretching of the image involved." |

aggies > in your HL2 (or hypothetical) example you are forgetting that at both WS and 4:3 (which you say does the same as Bioshock but the other way around - or something) the FOV is changed to ensure it's not unnaturally zoomed in. They call them 'FIRST PERSON SHOOTERS' not 'First person but with ... |

[quote][quote]2K intentionally gives 4:3 screens more visual information Part of the problem seems to be that some people are defining "wide screen support" based not upon how well the resolution of the screen is employed in support of the artistic and gameplay goals of a game's designers, but inst... |

2K intentionally gives 4:3 screens more visual informationTHE TRUTH ABOUT WIDESCREEN August 22, 2007 We understand there has been some concern about the implementation of widescreen mode in BioShock. Hopefully, we can clarify how we’ve chosen to do this. The first thing we want to make clear is th... |

Like the game so far. I'm confused how I should set the aspect ratio. I'm playing on my HDTV running at 960x540. Should I set the aspect ratio to 'Normal' or try one of the '4:3-->16:9' settings or the like? These confuse me. Here's a 4:3(960x720) res with the "Normal" aspect ratio setting. Here's a... |

The game does the same for me in widescreen mode if my desktop is running at a higher horizontal res than what the game is running at. The easy solution:
Change your desktop res to 1280x800 before running the game. That may not be the solution you were looking for, but it works for me. |

First off, make sure the game isn't overwriting the settings you enter into the DoomConfig.cfgn file. Some have repoerted the settings they enter get overwritten. For others, including myself, the settings entered into the .cfg file remain there. Check your .cfg file and make sure the settings are s... |

Enabling the widescreen in patch 1.05beta will correctly render a 16:9 image unlike before. However, the HUD will still be stretched with the patch. Here is the game running at the standard 4:3 aspect ratio. The settings in the DoomConfig.cfg are as follows: seta r_customHeight "720" seta r_customWi... |
