Thanks, I love this game, but haven't played it since I got my widescreen.

Also, you've just reminded me that I've been waiting for a copy of painkiller black that I ordered about 10 months ago!!! ...Forgot all about it! :?

With as big a money spinner as the Tomb Raider series, are you really surprised...? ;) Not so much surprised, but I'm actually very very disappointed. Publishers have resisted the urge to do this (afaik) for a very long time, they might run the game on unrealistic hardware, but every game I've boug...

This reminds me of the old sinclair spectrum and C64 days of lying screenshots.

isn't it a very bad idea releasing a demo with all the nice graphics disabled?

goes against the whole purpose of a "demo" imo.

if I hadn't read this thread, I would have just presumed that the PC version's graphics sucked.

I don't mind the tits, but I hate laras's voice-overs - all games have stupid sounding voices, but...

Yes, this does look potentially good, I'm very much hoping for Lara's return to form. Loved the first game - the small amount of time I spent on the rest bored me shitless. I hope this game has that grand sense of exploration of the first game. it was archaelogical heaven, a game that lived up to th...

hmmm, that sonds a little pricey to me though. I know nothing about the specifications of these cards, but when I first heard about them, I understood they would basically be another dedicated processor (a PPU I suppose). Early (general user) graphics cards were never this much - once the PhysX tech...

You should be ok if you get rid of AA, keep the other settings as high as you can. AA is a MASSIVE strain at high resolutions and not worth the effort imo. In fact, personally I wouldn't sacrifice just 5-10 fps for it let alone the 30-50 fps I seem to loose between 0xAA - 4xAA. Just my opinion.

I'd call this a perfect example of doing widescreen wrong. I don't knw what you guys are seeing, it keeps the same FOV as 4:3, but you lose the top and bottem. You're seeing less of the world, you're better off with 4:3, rather than that badly implemented widescreen. Are you sure about that? Which ...

I think that guild wars is spot on what the widescreen solution should be. - Cropping the top and bottom is obviously bad. - Adding too much to the horizontal FOV, is a little unnatural* - A perfect balance between the two, is just right. *This is something I've just started thinking about based on ...
