I couldn't find the old "post your command center" topic so I figured I'd put this in here.

I wanted a new desk for a long time and could never find one that worked. The Ikea Jerker would have been ideal but I couldn't get one here. So what was the solution?

Build my own!

I placed an order for the 37w3 today actually. I spent a really long time trying to decide what to do. I knew I wanted a larger monitor, but jumping from a 22" to a 24" didn't seem worthwhile, especially for the price difference. Let's see here.. $850 for a good 24 incher or $999 for a 37? 37 please...

I really hate it when ppl compare movie framerate to the framerate in games it just not the same thing... At no time did I make a direct comparison. It was just a fun way of pointing out one of the oddities of framerates. But hey everyone has to take everything way too seriously on the internet. Wee.

Yeah.. the game can actually run that fast. It's pointless though because monitors tend to not be able to display anymore than 60 or 75 on average. LCD's, at least currently, are locked in at 60, though the new 110/120hz panels coming out soon will change that. And yes, after a certain point the hum...

Yeah, I have a Core 2 E6400 clocked at 2.9ghz paired with an 8800GTX and it kicks ass in everything I've thrown at it.

I play at 1680x1050 too by the way. I guess that'd be an important detail ;)

Quick question... are you the Thin J from way back in the Gone Gold forum days? (and more recently ConsoleGold/GamingTrend) Sorry about the months late response, but yes, that would be me :) Setup changed here recently when I moved my computer to it's own little seperate room: The next big change i...

It was working fine for me just a couple of hours ago.

I did have a problem with punkbuster kicking me, but downloading the manual updater from the evenbalance website and manually updating the 2142 version of PB completely solved my problems.

Thanks :D I've been trying to figure out a good way to use my TV as a monitor for a while now, but the 720p resolution just wouldn't be high enough to suit me as far as normal desktop use goes. That's what I get for being impatient and jumping on the LCDTV bandwagon before all the low cost 1080p set...

Here's a picture of the computer at night:

And one that's a little more all-encompassing:

I'll be switching it to a different room in the house really soon, so it's kind of messy. After the switch I should have a much better overall setup.

I rarely ever see Mortars on Relic Online, mostly because they're just fodder for snipers.

In the singleplayer campign though, they are indeed extremely effective. The AI doesn't run it's infantry around as efficiently as some players online do.

There's a videocard roundup out there on Techspot, but they neglect to test any dual-gpu solutions, so no SLI of any kind and no Crossfire either. In fact, they don't even test the X1950XTX! Does anybody know if there's a site that has maybe used CoH to benchmark the X1950XTX versus the other curren...

That was so cool. 8)

I always remember the commando from the original with his:

"I got a present for ya!" as he ran towards a building with C4 in hand :)

[quote]The cutscenes in Red Alert were brilliant :) QFT  Indeed. The cheesy cutscenes are part of what make the C&C series so much fun. I thought they were sorely missed in Generals. I've gone back and played Red Alert 2 a fair amount pretty recently (widescreen ftw!) and it's been awesome. I...
