It's happening! Software is slowly being optimized to take full advantage of the current top hardware. nVidia graphics drivers are a lot better than at their first release. When I could only get 5 frames per second in Flight Simulator X I now get 10. SLI is finally achieving 80-90% card cooperation....

If games and drivers are optimized to take better advantage of multi-core CPUs and multi GPUs, as well as multimedia extensions of modern CPUs, then we could play all the games of 2007 using the current hardware. The problem right now is that most games don't take advantage of multi-threading and mu...

As promised, voici some pictures: Virtual Cockpit view of the Bombardier: My favorite! Also notice on the left the SLI GPU load balancing visualization. The green bar should be full in my opinion, but as you can see the two cards are not fully cooperating. Cockpit view: The ugly and unrealistic :-) ...

Hi p2987, I'll soon post the screenshots and the photos you've asked. First I need to clean my desk :-) I can tell you that the 2-D cockpit will look overstretched and ugly. It needs to be manually resized. I never use that mode because it is not realistic. That might also be why nobody ever posts t...

Hi, 2006 was a tremendous year for hardware: The fantastic Core2Duo processor from Intel was released. The fantastic nVidia GeForce 8800 GTX graphics card was released. The prices of LCD monitors kept falling while response times got better. And Matrox came out with the TripleHead2Go! At the same ti...

To reduce by half the gaps between each flat monitor place the left and right monitors behind the sides of the central monitor.

When you're in surround gaming mode you forget about everything... even the annoying gaps between monitors...

Yes, all proportions are respected in the virtual cockpit view as well as in all outside views. You'll just see a lot more towards the left and the right. The only things that become over stretched are the superimposed intrument panels (Example: Shift+3 for the GPS) which you can resize very easily ...

Hi everyone. Happy new year. 2006 was a great year for CPUs and GPUs, I can't wait to see what 2007 will bring. Here are the results of surround gaming tests at 3840x1024 with two 8800 GTX in SLI, a TripleHead2Go and three 19" monitors of native resolution 1280x1024. See the detailed system specific...

Hi Paddy, My latest result is 12134 3DMarks06!!! No overclocking. I'm happy now! This performance helps me forget the heat and noise of my dual 8800 GTX system :-) I updated the chipset drivers, changed the 3D settings to allow the application to decide and cleaned the registry "run" hive. I'm not s...

Hi, After a long night (until 4 am) I'm posting the preliminary results of my new dual 8800 GTX system. The Antec Neo HE 550 power supply is enough for two 8800 GTX, with a Core2Duo E6700, one nVGA nForce 680i SLI, one Maxtor IDE disk, and one DVD drive. This is a temporary solution, but it works. I...

I read your comments and gave them a good thought. Eventually I will buy a certified dual GeForce 8800 GTX power supply but for the moment I have to use the Neo HE 550 and I'm actually curious to see if it works. I think I'll be ok because: 1. A dual GeForce 8800 GTX system with a Core2Duo X6800 dra...

I noticed this thread paused on december the 5th, which is a shame because these were exactly the kind of questions I was asking myself before I ordered the second 8800GTX, a Matrox TH2Go and a n680i motherboard. I'm an Flight Simulator X fan and I like to have all options maximized. So far it hasn'...

I was a Matrox forum member for several years and I found there some interesting information about performance and troubleshooting. I understand why Matrox has closed the forums. It was costing them too much to have a bunch of people complaining about the mediocrity of their products. Also, since Ma...
