Dr. Watson will hang explorer.exe for no reason, explorer dies, explorer restarts, all is well again. I remember that drw .exe and .dll files and the aedebug or something registry entry was one of the first tweak I applied to any new xp install. As far as I'm concerned dr. watson has always crashed...

I've put vista on all my pcs, including my recent inspiron mini that I wiped of xp and put vista on it. Why? I've generally had less problems with vista than xp. This laptop (not the inpiron) has only recently got it's first bluescreen, and that fault lies with buggy powerdvd ultra, not vista itself...

Nice setup, AmeerNuub.

scavvenjahh,
Tried removing both 3 keys to see if that fixed it?

My eclipse has worked fine for years now, though I've recently had problems with it stop working (unplug/replug fixes that, could be a loose connection somewhere along the path or my switch).

Doesn't Squ1zzy's unipatcher work with just about any game, provided you know the 4 byte offsets for each res. part (like 2 for 1360 and 2 for 768 in this case) And from what I've seen, nfs:mw, nfs:u2, nfs:carbon and likely undercover use the same engine and even the offsets are in the same part of ...

Thank you rockstar, you've made my decision to buy things from gog.com instead of you quite a bit easier now.

GTA's were always in the 'meh, kinda ok' category, now IV puts it in 'it's been fun, bubye now'

Well I finished it a long time ago, probably other patches since. I've yet to see a single PC game that doesn't crash anyways. I thought overlord had achieved that but it played fine for a while then started crashing so much it was unplayable, I ended up uninstalling it, not feeling like starting ov...

I'd say it as 'game crashed because of a dying gpu' though. Titan Quest is fun albeit crashes constantly. I especially enjoyed the 'punch mobs into the clouds' wacked out physics. A similar game you might enjoy is Loki:age of mythologies. I've been playing it for weeks and haven't even reached the f...

Yeah, that's pretty much how I read em too, and if it wasn't for the constant hard lockups that happen whenever physx is enabled (on 8400 or 8800s) I'd leave it set on the 8400. So far though, performance isn't any better with it or with sli so for the time being, I've disabled the 8400 and 1 8800 a...

Well my results just seem totally off. I mean, 60% for the same physx on 2 8800 vs 1-5% for one 8400GS just doesn't fit. I don't know what exactly the choice of the 8800ultra means either, is it that it only lists the 2nd 8800 as in dedicate one of the 2 to sli or if it considers both as one 8800 in...

Hmm, guess I should've verified it before posting it from memory, I just redid em and the results aren't what I remembered: physx disabled: ~50% cpu use, ~10fps physx on 8400GS: 1-5% cpu use, ~10fps physx on 8800Ultra/sli: ~60% cpu use, 60fps (capped by vsync) So that leaves me to think even if flui...

True, but it is doing the exact same performance as a 3ghz core 2 duo though. So, I guess while it won't improve physx performance, it'll free up about 45% of the cpu for something else, and that'll likely help since that'd be 90% of the first core for single-threaded titles (aka, most games). Of co...

After I failed to use a pci-e x16 8400GS with a x16 to pci-e x1 adapter as my third card, I've gotten a native x1 HP 8400GS which works. The 180.48 drivers are installed for both 8800 Ultra and 8400 GS and I've verified that I can enable phyx processing on it with fluidmark: physx disabled: 50+% cpu...

Before I'd wipe the 80gb / 64bit to replace it with the now working 32bit install, I figured I'd boot it, see how it was. It booted, which was a first, since it halted on logo before. On that boot drives just needed importing then the array was available. It shutdown without freeze. However on booti...

Yes thanks Edward, it's flashed to latest. So far looks like a case of 64bit being touchy. Under 32bit it works with 8 drives in raid 0 and serving files. Only issue I've had is copying some files over from the current server, it kept saying things like invalid filenames and other errors, try again ...

That's the one I've used to date, I've tried using the other stick so unless there's a common mis-contact or both are defective, it's not a ram problem. Did find what caused 32bit reinstall to bluescreen though, the onboard graphics setting, I had meddled with them trying to see if it helped the 64b...

I've removed and reseated it, doesn't seem to be poorly fit. Yet I'm unabled to install vista 32bit. It expands files and everything, reboots once, gets to completing install. and bluescreens. Too short for me to see much except some icg or something dll failure. On restart it gives no clue as to wh...

During these tests, are all the 500G drives powered? (PSU) As far as I can tell yes. Problem happens without them plugged into controller so I don't think they have a say in the crash. Were you using the same rated PSU in both motherboards? (PSU) Tried both psu in both motherboards Did the processor...

I've just tried a couple old pci cards I had. results are: freeze on animated boot logo: rocketraid 454 dlink 530CT NIC boots but crash on shutdown: maxi gamer phoenix (voodoo banshee) no problem: xg sound card So, seems there's an issue with the pci slot itself, since the same happens in the other ...

So far seems theres something that just won't work between this rocketraid controller and the D945GCLF2 motherboard. I bought 2 D945GCLF2, one for the file server and one for an almost silent pc. I've just tried the controller in the 2nd D945GCLF2, it's been fine since I installed it, just putting i...

PXE booting? network boot? yes it does, keeps feeding that part since it keeps skipping over the cdrom. I've attempted right now to boot to windows cd via said cd on the floor method, now even the cd halts on logo ... I'm about to find an old pci card to see if the issue shows up with something othe...
