First of all, this "firmware" is NOT for ATI, it is for the TH2G Box. To answer the rest of what you asked, you would have to call Matrox's Tech Support Staff to ask them about that. I know that I don't have a problem when I go to my Screen Prefs to change the size of the screen back to one screen....

Does the updated Matrox firmware for the ATI also include the center (screen 2) output when switching to only 1 monitor?

Don't know if this is of any help, but I had the exact same problem when I first got my TH2G Digital. For me it turned out to be the DVI cable from the graphics card to the input of the TH2G. Although this cable had worked flawlessly on a single monitor previously, it would only give me the 2400x600...
