I'm running FC2 on my 1440x900 monitor, with the FoV settings at x=1.2, y=1.333. My scope sight looks circular and I'm happy with the result. But I'd like to understand the actual significance of the numbers. How do they relate to 16:10, or to 1440x900? I think I understand all the arguments as pre...

If you just want to go hor+ with the default vertical FOV (from 4:3, anyway), this is what does it for me:

X = 1.2 for 16:10
X = 1.333 for 16:9

(and Y always the default 1.333)

EDIT: You're awesome, Racer_S :)

If you widen the FOV at all and look left or right while hang gliding you'll see incomplete arm models, so they obviously designed for their default FOV and no wider. I'm not saying that isn't a simple fix for them, too, but it's not quite as simple as just changing the FOV. There may be other minor...

Hi there I'm new to this forum, first of all congrats to the forum. I have a simple question, I play the game on a 22'' monitor that is 16:10 (1680x1050), but I play the game at 1280x720(my card is shit (HD 2600Pro)) wich is 16:9. What FOV should I use? Is your monitor stretching 1280x720 to fill y...

Woah, you rock Racer_S :)

Anyone know if there is there some sort of calculation we can do to get values that give the right aspect ratio (for whatever our monitor is)?

It's not stretch.

It gets your aspect ratio from your desktop resolution.

Set your desktop resolution to the resolution you intend to run the game at before you load it and it won't stretch/squish anything.

And it'll still be vert- for wider resolutions.

Changing the X FOV in either direction seems to completely mess up lighting on lots of objects. Stand inside a shack or something with objects around and give it a try... Exciting to see what this could be like with a wider FOV, though. If you increase your vertical FOV over the 4:3 default you end ...

That setting hasn't nothing to do with the aspect ratio the game is rendering for, Shifteer. Change your desktop to a 4:3 resolution before running that game in a 4:3 resolution and you'll see the difference.
