Uru: Ages Beyond Myst is an adventure video game developed by Cyan Worlds and published by Ubisoft. The title is the fourth game in the Myst canon. Departing from previous games of the franchise, Uru takes place in the modern era and allows players to customize their onscreen avatars. Players use their avatars to explore the abandoned city of an ancient race known as the D'ni, uncover story clues and solve puzzles.

Cyan began developing Uru shortly after completing Riven in 1997, leaving future Myst sequels to be produced by third party developers. Uru required five years and $12 million to complete. Uru was initially conceived as a multiplayer game; the single-player portion was released, but the multiplayer component, Uru Live, was delayed. The online video game service GameTap released the multiplayer portion of Uru as Myst Online: Uru Live in February 2007, but the service was canceled again the following year due to a lack of subscribers. GameTap passed the rights to Uru Live back to Cyan, who announced their intention to resurrect the game. In 2010 Cyan Worlds made Uru Live Open Source and it's now known as Myst Online: URU Live again

Uru was not as well received as previous Myst titles. Critics admired the visuals and new features of the game but criticized the lack of multiplayer in the retail version and clunky controls. Uru sold poorly, while the first three games had sold millions of copies each. The game was a critical and commercial disappointment for Cyan, causing the company financial troubles; nevertheless, it has attracted a cult following.

As near as I could tell - the patch only stretches the screen. Not truly 1920 x 1200

Yes its Truly 1920x1080 ! But you're right, it doesn't change the FoV !

If you start the Game in 800x600 windowed mode and resize the Window you just have 800x600 pixel resized to 1920x1080! If you use UniWS Patcher and set to 1920x1080 you DO have 1920x1080 pixel!

So, this patch doesn't actually support 16:9 resolutions (specifically 1920x1080)? I have this size monitor and was thinking of buying the game from GOG recently.

This game installer was driving me crazy, kept freezing when I tried to install it on the very first part - Java runtime. I tried re-installing Java separately, tried running as admin, running in Windows XP Compatibility mode, tried copying all files to HDD before installing, etc = kept freezing. Searched a heap of forums with no joy.

Finally had a thought: I disabled Eyefinity and went back to a single screen, and what do you know, it installs.

If the damn installer doesn't support Eyefinity, I'll be surprised if the game does! :Sp

Anyhow I'll report back if the fixer works well or not, it's just installing now.

Ok, so here is what I found.

The game can only be played in 4:3 or 5:4 resolutions natively. It can however be patched to any 16:10 or 16:9 resolution, but the resulting gameplay is stretched. In 16:10 resolutions, it isn't too bad, but it starts looking pretty bad in 16:9.

You do have to go through character creation in a natively supported resolution, though, or else the game breaks and returns to 800x600. Once this is done, you can patch to a custom res.

The game cannot be patched to any Eyefinity resolutions, it crashes. So all round, it's not great in widescreen at all. In fact, widescreen is pretty much unsupported in any way, even with the fixer.

I've updated the DR with extra information and screenshots. Hope that helps you make your decision.
