It does.

In reply to #1:
Guess why it took you so long to load the maps - The game has to optimize shaders everytime you are changing the gfx settings, which actually takes a few minutes. Usually it takes about 30 seconds to load (on all high!) so dont complain :P

Not supporting widescreen also has a reason. First, it would be kind of an advantage to see more to the sides. And the game HUD was created on a 800*600 base, so every picture which is displayed on the HUD is displayed interpolated to match the resolution. Works best on 4:3 screens.

 Oh no!

I am very tempted to call you a blubbering idiot for using such an un-thought out argument. EA will give support for widescreen when they can see that it is in their own be$t interest, it's got nothing to do with advantage. Thats the sort or argument people use againt 5.1 sound systems. Sheesh. Its a stagnant non-progressive attitude where everyone should have the same hardware so no one will have the so called advantage. I guess we should all still be playing with 640x400 resolutions as anyone with the hardware to push super high resolutions will be seeing more pixels than the other players...not the hardware advantage! God forbid!

Don't forget, its more power consuming to use more pixels to use therefore need more power and hardware.

Now for the final counter to that argument = If there was a widescreen support, then EVERYONE COULD USE IT NOT JUST THE PEOPLE WITH THE WIDESCREEN HARDWARE!

No to advantage, no to unthought out arguments. See here, no advantage, no advantage here...just enthusiasm.

I knew somebody would post this :D Dont take my post too serious, I like to annoy people sometimes, lol

But you are right, its not really an argument. I'd actually love to play the game in a real widescreen mode.
The BF2 engine (and so the 2142 engine) has been created in 2003, where they didnt think of this yet.

I bet the next battlefield game will come with ws support.
Until then, I need to get me one of those sexy TFTs. No money yet but the day will come

You have to remember that the BF engine is capable of producing true widescreen.
The problem is just that Punkbuster kicks you if you try to enable it through a hack.

Anyway, we had enough talk about this subject here on the forum allready so let's keep it to this.

I've been a total BF geek from the start, but I didnt know this
I know there is a command for the exe but never tried it or whatsoever.
But you said it has been discussed enough so no more talking about this
