[quote]Uh guys, I check several locations and took some sample shots in DX9 and DX10 and I can't find a single difference.

Hi kilmar, I understand that it's not happening on every system, so you are lucky, trust me its like playing the game with everything set to LOW DETAIL...

I know of that bug and know I don't have the issue. What I really wanted to TRY to show was what DX10 does that DX9 doesn't. After taking shots in 6 different locations, I compared the screenshots and found no differences at all. Water, texture, etc... all looked the same. I did hear the the water beads on the screen reflect light in DX10, which in DX9 it does not, so I am going to start the game again and save right after you swim to the lighthouse and see if I can find SOMETHING different.

1hrsleep, if you know what the differences are, please post them and I will try to find a sample location to take the screenshot comparison. Thanks!

Bioshocker, I think it's on a per game basis. If you look at video comparison of Crysis on DX9 and DX10, it's like night and day. The dev at Irrational probably didn't spend much time to utilize DX10 fully.

Don't thank me yet. I have yet to take a screenshot that shows ANY difference. Even with the water on the lens effect.

Here's a video I just googled that shows DX9 and DX10 in BioShock. You can see why I am having a hard time:

I basically want to know is: Do the members of this forum feel that Widescreen HAS to have a wider FOV for games than 4:3 in every case? And if so, why?

First I'll answer the question with a question and answer it. Do you think a FOV of 75 degrees for a FPS is reasonable for a WS display? I do not think it is reasonable. In fact, if you were to look at the default FOV for many games, it won't be 75. It will probably be around 90.

Now, with that said, if people are used to a FOV of 90 not just because it "feels right" but because that's what they've experienced for other games.. what's going to happen when they're playing a game that has a FOV of 75 on a wide screen monitor?

There are people who didn't know what the FOV was, but they did report that it didn't feel quite right and control felt like you were walking with a sniper rifle slightly zoomed in. Some got sick. It wasn't until they went looking on the internet to find out what was going on that it all made sense.

Most games also let you change the FOV, because one FOV size fits all doesn't really work for all the display combinations out there.
