Minnesota seem to want to demonise all gamers.

Good going, guys!

Worst case, a combined company would be forced to divest certain assets/franchises, but we see even that as unlikely

So if I buy up the Diablo series and all its clones I am violating antitrust laws?

FFS, the video game did not "Inspire" them to commit the crime. With or without the game they would have committed the crime. Just because a similar action is in a video game means it's the video game's fault?

No, it just means that there is a convenient scapegoat that can't fight back the way films or music can, as there is no **AA for games.

http://videogames.yahoo.com/feature/congressional-bill-would-require-health-warning-label-on-video-games/1280461

The label itself sounds eerily similar to the kind that graces tobacco products: "WARNING: Excessive exposure to violent video games and other violent media has been linked to aggressive behavior."

They have repeatedly failed to live up to this responsibility.

The other dangerous thing about these games, in my opinion, is that when these changes occur, they occur in an environment that is delusional. Because you can shoot these aliens, and they're there again the next day. You have to shoot them again. And I firmly believe that Daniel Petric had no idea, at the time he hatched this plot, that if he killed his parents, they would be dead forever.

I don't recall them ever proving violent video games being linked to aggressive behavior. Aggressive people PLAY violent video games.

The only real conclusions I've ever seen were along the lines of 'violent games increase adrenaline therefore make you more violent'. But those guys apparently have never seen hockey or football games or the fights their players get into.

Politicians have used that 'violent games need control' angle over and over again because it involves little work on their part yet usually gets talked about lots.

I say lock em up and force em to play GTA for a dozen hours straight and see how many kill another before the end of the session.

Only unstable minds blurr reality and game after playing it, and games aren't the only trigger.
