Damn steam to hell, decided i wanted to play it this weekend so thought id buy it off steam - but they only accept credit cards, not debit cards. Useless. Ordered off play instead.

How do you enter your PIN number over the internet?

Don't need to enter your PIN when using debit cards online - the whole "chip n pin" crap is just as insecure as it was before CNP was introduced.

Update - buggy as hell. Crashes/hangs frequently, even with settings dumbed down...

*sigh*

All part of the PC game experience I suppose. Now where's that exercise wheel? This guinea pig needs to stretch his legs...

Weird. I played it for a few hours last night and it never crashed at all. The source engine is pretty stable as far as I can tell.

As far as impressions go...

It's ok. Slightly above "meh...". Graphics are adequate. Gameplay is adequate. Storyline so far has been ok. This game has so far failed to excite me, but it's not terrible, so I haven't given up on it yet.

Well, I have to say that this game is the way Steam releases should be done. Steam required for multiplayer, but Steam not required for single player! Yes! I like it! It doesn't even need the damned CD key for single play Dark Messiah goodness. :D

I picked it up in Tesco's of all places - and it was cheaper than buying it online! - on Saturday, and had a quick blast for... well.. most of Saturday.

Until I reached about the fifth time in the same number of levels where you fail if someone other than you dies - I hate games that do that! I don't want to go into spoilers, but damn, if the AI enemies aren't some of the most accurate archers ever and the AI friends the most stupidly retarded bunch of morons to ever grace a FPS RPG...

...

Now I've got that out of my system, I've not had any serious problems with the game - load times are horrific with everything right up at max, and after a load, the sound stutters like a bitch for about ten seconds... but then it calms down and sorts itself out. For those of you using the Steam version, defrag your game cache files. For those of you not, defrag your whole HDD. ;)

Oh god don't even get me started on "escort" type missions. I HATE THEMS!.

PS, I assume you have texture detail at max as well? Generally people find that putting it to medium reduces load times a VAST amount.

Yeah, I've got textures at max. I saw that there was some stuff online about turning it down to medium decreased load times, but I thought, "What the hell, I'll leave it at max..." ;)

I've failed the same 'chapter' six times now, as the incredibly crap friend AI keeps getting itself killed.

I swear, with friends like that, who needs enemies?
