If anyone is interested in finding servers that run Vanilla TF2, I've created a Steam Group just for you: http://steamcommunity.com/groups/VTU

If you run a Vanilla server you can message me ([AfZ]Ryom) and I'll promote you to a group officer and add your server to the Vanilla Server list.

Vanilla server = "Pure server".

Default server content. No mods of any kind. Some people include original game version in that definition, too. But I think that's silly, as official patches are essential.

Or ahs that changed since i last gamed online? It's been a while...

Q: What is Vanilla TF2?

A: Vanilla TF2 is the game the way Valve intended it. No gameplay changes (shortened respawn, no crits, no more than 24 players, modifed gravity/health/damage, etc) or other modifications of that nature.

Custom maps are considered Vanilla. Adminstration and Voting mods are considered Vanilla, as long as the voting does not allow for players to change core gameplay (respawn timers, gravity, crits, etc); in other words map change voting is OK.

If they are not the same word then I would guess the answer is:
Code:
no.
