I have a Satellite L305-S5946 that uses onboard Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 4500MHD.

I can play Halflife2 high detail but objects in the distance have a hazy/washed out look and I'm wondering if there is anything I can do about it.

In the screenshot below you'll see Alyx Vance is washed out a bit:

Also the pipes on the ceiling are washed out too.

Is this just the end result of cheap onboard video or can I improve this?

THANKS

Here you go:

cl_detaildist (number)
cl_detailfade (number)

Ok, I've been looking at the tweaks online, I take it I need "quotes" like this around the number?

cl_detaildist "380"

I made autoexec.cfg and placed them in there...

THANKS

This is the site I meant when I said I'm looking at tweaks online... :)

I found the fix: mat_dxlevel "81" Can see distance and detail better now...

Look at this screenshot :)

well half-life 2 ....

it just doesnt look good anymore after trying fakefactorys cinematic mod (current version: 10 beta 2). it changes about everything in hl2: models, most textures, maps, objects, sounds, music. if youre a hl2 fan you should give it a try, fake has maxed out the possibilities of the engine and the mod has developed so far as it needs a 64-bit OS as 32bit windows cant address enough ram for the extreme load of textures and crashes often between level changes. and the viewing distance is amazing, for example when youre driving down the coast road theres the point where you have to climb below a bridge to open a shield - you can see the whole bridge there - nor like the original version where you can see like 10metres ^^

Suggesting the fakefactory mod ... I think you missed the 'Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 4500MHD' part. :)
