Regarding the library, we are in the process of converting Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee and Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath to the PC, so that all four of the major Oddworld games will be re-releasing this winter in a package called "The Oddbox." This will be the Abe games, Munch, and Stranger as one package for Steam's digital distribution network, as well as a few other digital distribution outlets.

Stranger's Wrath has often been dubbed "one of the best console FPSs" in reviews...

Can't wait

This decision seems quite.. odd. While the 2D games are great, Munch's Oddysee was an utterly average and forgettable 3D platformer, even back in 2001. I sure wouldn't think the profit potential of an unremarkable eight-year-old game high enough to justify a "conversion."

Especially when you consider all the really great stuff that gets ignored. ICO, Devil May Cry, and Conker's Bad Fur Day are all vastly superior 3D action/adventure games from the same year, and I don't see anyone in a hurry to port those to PC. Old games are lucky if they just get dumped as-is on Steam or GoG without getting butchered in the process.

Never played Stranger's Wrath, though.

I agree with Cranky. (I do occasionally!) Bit of an odd thing to do.

Have to say, I loved the old Oddworld games (Abe's Odyssey!) but looking at the 360 exclusive ones left me with the impression that they wouldn't hold my attention for more than ten minutes.

I think the difference is that the original games were on PC and popular on PC, and the team was always pro-PC in the first place, the games were only console exclusives because the publishers wanted it that way. It isn't that odd right now for old games to release on newer platforms either, a lot of Xbox Arcade titles are games never on Xbox but releases on that platform. The original Call of Duty is coming to Xbox Live Arcade for instance. It is odd to see it happening on PC, but digital distribution allows this to happen with little cost I imagine, which makes it more of a lucrative proposition.

In any event, I am very happy to get these to support the idea and hopefully get some fun games in the process.
