Post subject:  BC 2 Max settings

I am going to put my 2 gtx 460's into my lan. I want to know what is the most cost effective setup that will play BFBC2 on max everything over triple monitors. I have been playing on high but some stuff pretty low like antialiasing. I am new to the three monitors and would really like to have it running smoothly. Any suggestions on programs, Drivers or anything useful would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

I really do not get your post. What do you mean the most cost effective setup? It's not like you're still choosing the parts for a build. Obviously, you will get good/bad performance depending on your computer. That gtx460 SLI will run like a gtx460 SLI. There is no cost effective setup to make it run any better...

I am putting the 2 460's in a LAN PC and buying new cards for my home PC. I wanted to know what new cards out would run bfbc2 full maxed out with hbao on over three monitor. The 460's were not able to do this. I am thinking GTX 570 but i dont think i want to put out that much money.

Over 3 monitors? If that's a requirement, you're going to be pushing a lot of pixels. For my Eyefinity setup (5040x1050, aka 3x 1680x1050), my card can handle it but I had to knock down a lot of settings for it to run w/o a crash in vanilla BC2. But if I wanted fancier details and better visuals, it means I have to invest in a 2nd card. If you have a 3x 1920 wide setup then you'll need something a lot beefier than what I have. There is no cheap way in order to do this even if you want all the fancy visuals turned up.

I say keep the dual 460 in your rig and deal with the lesser details while you save up. If you want the best in visuals, you will have to pay top dollars for the hardware. There's no getting around it. If you keep tabs on hot deals, maybe you'll find an offer that will fit your budget. But it means you got to put in some effort to keep an eye out for those kind of deals.

Turning HBAO on in BFBC2 really hurts on Surround. I'd be wary of saying even GTX580SLI/6970CF would do it without some noticable slowdown. Particularly if you're after something like 5760x1080 or higher... BFBC2 also does a Crysis when it comes to Surround, and eats VRAM for breakfast. The days of 1GB GPUs are gone for anyone who wants Surround.

Thanks for the help yes i am running at 5760 x 1080. I was thinking of buying 2 gtx 570's. But you don't even think that'll do the trick? I am not really looking to just max out BC 2 but i think if i do i will be future proof for a bit.

If you don't turn on HBAO, it'll probably be OK. I can't say for sure though as games react in unexpected ways to Surround - some perform better than you'd think with triple the resolution... others perform worse. It is heavily VRAM dependent - to the point where if a 3GB GTX580 comes out, I'll be looking at swapping my 2GB 460s for a pair of them. But as soon as a game starts demanding more VRAM than the card has, performance drops like a rock.

If 2 570's dont do the trick, then something is seriously wrong. The questions that need to be asked are about AA. I can run BC2 @ 5916x1080 and all settings maxed except i keep hbao off and AA @ 1x and do all this on a single 5850 and get between 40-60fps. If you edit the ini file and change it to DX9 I get 80+ fps. 2 570s should be more than enough.
