The Official* DIY Builds Presentation Thread.

Welcome to my thread!

My aim is for this thread to be a one stop shop to give people ideas and inspiration for their own build. I'm interested in virtual reality, immersion and interaction, so big 180 degree screens like BHawthorne has done, a racing seat with added extras (needs to be new and exciting, not just look like a car!) and projects like Johnny Lee has done turning something simple like the Wiimote into a device that turns your projector screen into an interactive whiteboard (basically touchscreen!).

There are a few rules to follow to have your build featured in this thread (lol!).

1. The project must be well presented, easy to follow, with as many pictures, videos and technical details as possible (within reason!). It's really useful when looking at a project to be able to know what software/hardware was used to achieve the result, as we all know, some projects require very specific pieces of hardware to work.

2. The project must be viable for a reasonable person to be able to do, if it costs £50,000 (or dollars) to make then I won't be including it. Likewise, if it requires far more technical experience than most people have then I probably wouldn't include it either.

3. The project must be bringing something new to the table, I will likely include a standard eyefinity setup for example, but I wouldn't included everyone's standard eyefinity setups as it would distract from other new and more innovative projects.

Please send me a private message on the forum with links etc if you would like your project to be included. I will do my best to keep this up to date but if the community would like to help in finding more projects and making sure they're presented well then that would be awesome.

So, without further ado, here are the projects: (none at the moment lol, but will be adding them as time goes on).

Please feel free to chat below, I'll keep this section edited to include new projects rather than them get lost in the many pages of chat to follow (hopefully!!!).

All the best,
Ben.

Section: (A) Multiple Projector Based Displays

Project #A1

BHawthorne's Gaming Room Circular Projection

BHawthorne set out to create a gaming room, with a full 360 degree circular screen, with the display being provided by 6 projectors. What he found was that games don't like it when you go over 180 degrees so he settled on a 180 system using 3 projectors instead (it's still awesome!!). Below is a picture of what he's created, a link to his thread which includes all the technical details etc and a link to his youtube channel which shows the system in all its glory!

Section: (B) Multiple Monitor Display Systems

Project: #B1

Duniek's Insane Eyefinity Setup

So, we all know about ATI Eyefinity, NVIDIA Surround, SoftTH, TH2G etc for creating multiple displays for gaming, most people using 3 screens to get periphrial vision into their games and be able to see around them and feel immersed etc. But not happy with 3 sceens, Duniek decided to push the boundaries and see how far it could go (clue: it went a long way!).

Firstly with 5 screens in Landscape formation.

Then 9 screens in portait formation.

Then 5x2.

Then 5x3.

Where will it all end??? Well, there actually. For now...
