As some sound cards strangely are known to affect BF2
I.E. some X-fi Fatality's

uninstall the card & give it a shot - nothing to loose really ??

Uuh..

I doubt that this will help though, BF2 has always been running perfectly with the soundcard. It's just that the new monitor has messed things up. And even if i get BF2 up and running, i wouldn't have any sound. Now that would be pretty F*uP.

Actually - the sound card issues I was referring to either slowed the framerates down very greatly or froze the game up - surprisingly it had nothing to do with the sound itself.

Anyway - I'm just trying to pass on what I have learned from other's experiences & issues.

EDIT:

BTW As noted above in your specs "DX Setup Parameters: Not found"

Did you click Start > Run > type in DXDIAG then do all the tests in the box that popped up??

I'm aware of the things that you're saying; BF2 would run enormly crapp-y when multiple sounds were spitted, this is really disastrous in Special Forces - which i find a most afwul game - but that still doesn't solve the monitor issue in a whole perspective..

Hi Rice...
Just out of interest ... does the game work if you use a 4x3 resolution in the short cut ?

@ Paddy: did not tested that yet, what are the res. for that?
@ Doug: i'm doing it again right now. Evidently, i skipped the whole testing stuff..

Anyway, this is what EA said in response this morning.:

"Hi Elmo,

Thank you for contacting Electronic Arts.

Looking at your dxdiag file you sent you may want to download the latest drivers for your monitor. This has helped with many games crashing with black screens.

Best Regards,

My response

------------

'Hello,

I've updated my drivers, but the problem still arises. This still is a Widescreen issue that is not supported by EA, not a driver problem.

How will EA fix this for me?

Greetings,

E.A. de Meza - The Netherlands'

@ Ricepuppet ...

All the resolutions that your monitor can do including the 4x3 ones should be in your Nvidia settings ... Screen resolutions and refresh rates.

I would try each one in turn.
