Search the forum but couldn't find any thing regarding CS 1.6..any tricks for CS 1.6?

What do you mean? It's native so you should be able to select it in the graphics options of the game.

You have to set the aspect ratio to "Widescreen." After that, widescreen resolutions will appear in the resolutions menu instead of 4:3 ones.
