I'm having an issue with this, I have The Gold Edition so it installs the expansion and game all in one. So I need to manually change the install path to the Gold Edition spot, but when I do this and then run it, it can't find any of the files, I assume they are named differently. So does that put me out of luck here?

Playing on Windows 7 at 1920x1200 and it's working great, but can't alt tab out or I get to see cmd.exe and everything else is black, and can't alt tab back in game. Even tried running windows in the Basic theme and didn't work, any fixes for this?

De bill,

I'm using your path to correct bug with windows 7.

I play on gameranger. The patch for HD is not compatible with this online game site.

Can you do something to cumulate your patch with the HD patch ?

Cordialy

Obvious: alt-tab is handled by explorer, which is suspended for the color fix. no, just save, quit, and load after your other business.

Or maybe, ctrl-shift-esc or via ctrl=alt-del to the task manager to switch to another task... but not to explorer!

de bill,

I'm using your soft, thank you :)

It's possible to imagine to compile your patch with the HD patch ?

I play on gameranger, and it's impossible to use HD patch.

Good to here it foluia, thank you :) ,

With that HD patch, I guess you mean "this" widescreen patch by boekabart. As I wrote before. To play on GameRanger just use generated widescreen .....exe file (located in game root directory) in your own format "age2_x1_AAAAxBBBB.exe" and handy rename it back to age2_x1.exe and remove it back to TC folder "Age2_x1" (backup you original executable first ... just in case you would like it later). It works for me on GameRanger perfectly without any problem. I use it at 1680x1050 and also at 1280x800 :bowdown

If you mean to add the cmd line from batch file with "1280" etc., this can't be done in AOE II TC color FIX application, because color FIX doesn't start or launch the game executable at all. Here, GameRanger launches the executable (in batch file executable is started with parametr "1280" etc.) so here it should be GameRanger, who "should" launch that command line with parametrer.

I hope this help a little bit ...

I use xfire and steam and people message me frequently, it seems using the widescreen patch that neither of those programs will work with the game, so I can't really save and quit the game everytime someone sends me a message. crtl + alt + del wasn't working either, I'll try the other method though.

de Bill, you need to be more clear, what file are you using, The exe in the root folder that is labeled 1920x1200 (for me) doesnt actually start the game in 1920x1200, and I think thats the file oyur talking about, so what to explain how you get this to work with Game Ranger?

Yeah, I agree with you with clearance of my statements. But you got it right. It is that .exe file (for you 1920x1200) what I ment. I don't see any problem, why your age2_x1_1920x1200.exe file wouldn't work. Maybe it is caused by missing parametr included in batch file (see above, what boekabart wrote about). Maybe try to reinstal aoe2wide patch and try it again.

My steps, I got it work for the first time with no problem (on my both computers):

1. Install aoe2wide patch normaly to AOC version (mine was 1.0e)
2. Run .bat file created on the desktop to generate your age2_x1_AAAAxBBBB.exe file (mine are 1680x1050 and 1280x800 on my second laptop)
3. go to AOC game root folder and try to run age2_x1_AAAAxBBBB.exe (yours age2_x1_1920x1200.exe)
4. HERE, GET THE GAME TO WORK for your resolution 1920x1200 (with no batch file use!!!!)
5. If you can run this executable alone with no batch file and can obtain your resolution in game = PERFECT !!!
6. Now, rename your age2_x1_1920x1200.exe back to age2_x1.exe and put it back to your game folder Age2_x1 (backup your original age2_x1.exe just in case you will want it later)
7. GameRanger runs age2_x1.exe from Age2_x1 folder. This should be without problems and game should run in your res.
8. If everything is OK, apply AOE II TC color FIX

Hope this helps

In case you will not get it work, write here, what step is critical for you! Good luck!

I ended up figuring that out, but what I notice taking that path is, there is no color correction and theres lots of red dots and other color issues in the grass. So how do I apply the color fix to the exe?
