Hi,

I just tested this with my Chinese edition AoE2. The version of the original exe file is 2.1 instead of 1.0c, 1.0e etc. When I apply the patch, there are a few warnings saying file size not expected or sth. But it still generated modified exe files for my laptop which has 1600x900 resolution. And the modified exe worked! it plays great on full screen, and no color distortion in win7 after using the other patch is simply terrific.

A big thanks to the creaters of these wonderful patches!
:bowdown

boekabart, do you think your patch could be converted and incorporated into UniWS, or would it require a totally different approach :?:

For the exe it might be possible, but for the interfac.drs I highly doubt it. CHeck the source code and see for yourself.

Hello boekabart, I have already tried to patch the AoK .exe file, but I have some problems to finish it. First of all, probably I don't get what you have mentioned before with that 'createpatches' ??? What exactly is it?

Here is what i did: I took "AoE2Wide1.0e.patch", renamed it for version 2.0 and have changed some configuration details inside.
a) file size of AoK executable - EMPIRES2.EXE file
b) hash code of AoK executable
c) !!! here I am not sure, If this is relevant for anything, but I have changed version to 2.0 (what is version of my EMPIRES2.EXE)
d) !!! here I did NOT change anything, coz I don't know, what this mean :) . What is "drspost" ??? I gues, this was the problem, where the patching failed.

Please, look at this screenshot and if you would be so nice, give me some hint :).

thx

No this is wrong. Don't manually change the details in a patch file this won't work.

If you run aoe2wide with the option createpatches it will create a patch file FROM the rootpatch file FOR all the exes it finds. Like this: http://www.boekabart.net/aoe2wide/AoE2Wide_Kings.patch (dunno what version kings this is - it might work better for your version than for mine)
All those !!! in there have to be manually found and fixed! (don't remove the !!! that won't work, you have to find the correct position)

Thank you very much, but could you please more specify the steps to do tha? I still cannot make it. Let's have game folder "AoE TC" for example. In "AoE TC" folder root is "EMPIRES2.EXE" (AoK executable) and another "Age2_x1.exe" folder wit TC extention. I have already installed you TC widesreen patch. So "Age2Wide" folder is included in game folder. In "Age2Wide" are generated patches.

When I go to cmd and run "Age2Wide createpatches" from "Age2Wide" folder, It generates 3 patches as usual (1.0, 1.0c, 1.0e) but doesnt create patch file for EMPIRES2.EXE. What do I bad? How did you exactly generate included "AoE2Wide_Kings.patch" ??

As you wrote "If you run aoe2wide with the option createpatches it will create a patch file FROM the rootpatch file FOR all the exes it finds", but I cannot get it

debill: I wrote before: rename/copy your empires2.exe to age2_x1_Kings.exe or so (because the patcher only looks for age2_x1*.exe ... )
THEN createpatches will create one for kings too.

:) yeah, thats exactly, what doesn't work .. as I wrote before, so you talk still in a circle instead of giving me exact points how to do that to be more transparent for me. Thats why I wanted you help, you gave me just very very wide info how you think this can work.

Createpatches does not create anything for kings, coz the Age2_x1_whatever.exe "is not the expected size". It creates patches for 1.0, 1.0c and 1.0c .. and thats it!

From the output I can tell that you just didn't run 'aoe2wide createpatches'. It should look like this (apart from the yellow part):
