I want to put out an update that Sin @ 1440x900 works using Honza's patch. I tried it on the Steam version and it doesn't work partly because the resolution only goes to 1280x1024 (at least on my native resolution 1440x900 on my laptop). I finally got my original Sin CD from E-bay today and tried it and it works.
Couple of things I would like to mention, when I first installed Sin it had version 1.03. I would recommend to download the Sin patch from 1.00/1.01 to 1.11. When you do the patch update it may seem like it's not doing nothing, give it some time and you will see the screen asking you to install it and also you may want to run the patch @ compatibility mode (the patch version update patch) for Windows 98.
Once the update happens launch Sin and set the video settings @ 1600x1200 and set your graphical setting to max (I assume that people has powerful enough hardware that will run a game from '98 maxed out. lol - don't put the Software settings to max though, and make sure you run it in OpenGL (obvious though right :P).
Copy and paste the Honza's patch to Sin folder and launch it and you should be good to go.
I really would like to thank Honza for this because I really, really hate running games in resoltions other than the max resolution of my Widescreen monitor because it stretches the image and makes the game look blurry and crap. I can now finally play Sin after nearly 14 years!
I would really recommend playing Sin for those who likes FPS. Eventhough it didn't get enough hype because it got drowned out by Half Life which was released around the time Sin came out I think it's one of the great FPS shooters from the late 90's and also try Sin Episodes which came out in 2006.
Now off to playing Sin. :)
