Latest patch included a fov_desired cvar. It only allows values between 75 and 90, but it's still better than fixed 75 degrees.

The fact that it is thier own game and they will do what they like goes without saying really.

The FOV seems fine for me.

Thats great! Hope you have fun.
Since TF2 (Source engine) is hor+, the FOV they choose is going to be right no matter what.

Why be part of the Internet mass that says things as hard fact while not KNOWING with 100% certainty? Don't you mean, "it should probably be right". or did you test all of the ratio's before your comment?

The developers obviously felt 75 is a good value in TF2 and it hasn't bothered me one bit.

Bothered YOU one bit, right...

I'm not saying not to speak up about it. There are developers who listen and would like to appeal to as many people as possible. What I meant originally is that if that's the FOV they chose and they are not going to change it whatsoever, then let it be because there is no point in pursuing it further.

You sure about that or do you mean, no point for YOU.....again....

I am all for supporting proper widescreen with correct FOVs.

If you re-read your posts it sounds like your for YOUR preferences. You like it, so nothing to fix? What is a correct FOV? One that doesn't stretch? That would be like 45 degrees.....why even try to define (in this conversation) a "correct" fov when its individual opinion that matters. Only the online competition argument has objective relevance in my mind. Otherwise, every game would be better off with a fov hot-key imo.

If they decided to make the default FOV 75, well they had their reason. As long as it stays hor+, it won't bother me much.

YOU again.. A dev is a human, with his own opinion setting ONE fov "set" for each ratio, why would his opinion matter to us in a non competitive game.

It kind of makes it reassuring that that is the FOV they designed everything around and that's what they felt the game would be best played at.

For the majority..............4:3 owners.... Do you know which forum your on? Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, so why argue that someone elses OPINION is invalid or less weighty than the devs.

They designed everything around the FOV?

If the game is vert-, well then that field of view might be even worse off and you might not know which aspect ratio the game was really developed around or which it was meant for.

Seriously, why even bother posting what you posted.

Back to the topic.

A patch was released tonight, it includes an option to change the FOV in game in the options.

"Added option to change Field-of-view, between 75 & 90, from the Options->Multiplayer tab"

I am suprised you are suprised you find yourself in this thread defending your self after posting this:

The FOV seems fine for me.

If thats the way they designed the game, then leave it be.

The view is correct for all resolutions and aspect ratios so it's 100% fine.

It's a selectable option, you have to move the slider in your Multiplayer options....

FOV 75

FOV90
