@boekabart:

Man. Thank you very much for this patch. All I can say is that there's a LOT of people now reliving this great game in the HD era; and there's still a LOT of people who doesn't know about this.

I have read several pages of this thread. I will test this on my 1280 x 800 HP notebook. Now i just wat to give you some "bad news".

I live in Spain, I speak spanish. Just typing "AOEwide" on google, it shows me a result in the well known "Taringa.net" website. There's a guy usernamed "estuT" who is sharing YOUR work to all the hispanic comunity and claiming this so-waited fix is from HIS.

Maybe you or a lot of people with this kind of problems do nothing. And maybe if I didn't understand another language probably you wouldn't have noticed of this. But I did. So I denounced it and reported to the admin. I think this is the less I can do to thank you for your work.

Hope you keep up updating this "widescreen fixes", or maybe creating another ones for the well known old games like this (I'm trying to get a fully functional resolution hack for Starcraft Brood War. There are still bugs in campaign mode).

Greetings from Spain!

Ok.

Just to inform that I've just tested the patch. It's working perfect in my 1280 x 800 HP notebook (Windows 7). I had some complications with my aoe version. Downloaded the 1.0 version from boekabart (link in the first pages) and works perfectly.

Note: Terminate explorer.exe before playing if you don't want color issues.

I read a way to get rid of explorer.exe and start AOE widescreen at the same time crating a .bat file inside the main aoe's folder. It goes like this:

In the main folder of the program, create a .txt file and type this.

taskkill /F /IM Explorer.exe
age2_x1_1280x800.exe
Start explorer.exe

Save it, and now change its extension to ".bat"

Notice that you have to put the name of your aoe generated .exe from the patch (mine, "age2_x1_1280x800.exe" is written) in the text file.

Run it and it should kill explorer.exe and execute the aoe widescreen program.

If I recall correctly, my patcher creates exactly such a batch file in the game folder AND your desktop...

Can't find the post on taringa you mentioned, by the way, can you send(pm?) me a link?

Hi, could you help me?
I've the following problem, after copying widescreen files to my directory, I click the AoE2Wide and there is such a picture: and after this my game does't start at all, even in 800*600 :(.

Where is the problem?
Thank's.

The problem is the crappy output from the patcher :).
From the second screenshot I can see that the first run DID create a patched 1.0 executable. You should also have a batch file on your desktop now, AoC Wide 1920x1080 or so. It's also in your game folder, and there is a age2_x1_1.0_1920x1080.exe that you could run. IF you decide to not use the batch file, but the exe instead, make sure to go to OPTIONS immediately after starting the game, and changing the resolution first to 800x600 and then back to to highest value available (1280x1024 in your case) again. Then enjoy!

I ran the installer last night and then ran the icon it put on my desktop and it said error....no exe for game found.
