I have tried to change the rez on Resurrection of Evil but cant' do it. even when I select 1600x1200 the game is stil in 640x480, all bloky and crappy. I have 2 6800-U in SLI with a Dell 2005fpw. Any help is greatly appreciated. I have tried to alter the .cfg file but to no avail. The R.O.E. installed the 1.2 patch which I thought supplied widescreen rez but it hasn't done anything.

Open up your DoomConfig.cfg found in the Doom3d3xp folder.

Make sure seta r_mode is set to "-1" not "3". The line should look like this:

seta r_mode "-1"

With your SLI setup I'd definitely try to run it at the LCD's native res!
So set it like this:

seta r_customHeight "1050"
seta r_customWidth "1680"

If you think that you don't get enough FPS take it down a notch and run it at 1280 X 800 but I don't think you should have to! (Lucky SLI bastard!)

Lemme know if this helped!

Do you have an autoexec.cfg file, If so, what does it say. Because I know you can't make custom resolutions through the doomconfig.cfg file anymore with the 1.2 patch, you have to use the autoexec.cfg file. And if the custom resolution in the autoexec.cfg file is screwed up, it may get stuck at 640x480.

Really? Well, it works for me.
It didn't work the first time I launched it but then set the "seta r_mode "-1"" and that saved the settings with my desired res. Now it works every time!

I believe it tells the game to use your custom resolution.

Tempus is right: r_mode tells Doom 3 to use a set resolution. For example, I think r_mode 7 is 1024x768, while r_mode 8 is 1280x1024. At least, that's the way it was in Quake 3. Setting it to -1 tells the game to check the values custom_height and custom_width, and use them instead. :)
