I'm sorry if this has been covered before, but I want to get an answer specific to my PC.

I am in the market for a 19" LCD, either a 4:3 or 16:10. I know that my computer could handle the games I play at 1280x1024, as I already run most of them at full detail in 1152x864 @ 75Hz.

What I'm curious about is running them at 1440x900. I know some games don't support this, but I am wondering if my PC will even be up to the job (I don't want to have to drop my detail level down).

I am thinking it may be better for my current config to just get the traditional screen format. :?

I mostly play Call of Duty 2, Battlefield 2 and Age of Empires 3, etc right now.

I have a P4 3.2GHz with 1Gb of RAM and a BFG 6800GT OC.

Thanks in advance

Welcome to the club mate. :D

1280 x 1024 = 1310720 pixels
1440 x 900 = 1296000 pixels

As you can see 1440 x 900 is less pixels then 1280 x 1024 so it should run even better.

ps. can you make your sig comply to these rules:

Please keep the text (colored text is fine) between sizes 9 and 11 (using BB Code). Run your specs horizontally (rather than vertically), and limit to four lines at normal forum width.

Thanks in advance.

I'm pretty sure that having extra geometry to render is more demanding than having more pixels. But either way, it shouldn't make the difference between being playable and unplayable.

I was able to play BF2 on my WS with a 6600GT, Athlon XP 2400+ & 768MB RAM and got decent FPS, so yours should do fine.
