I am running my PC to an HD plasma tv. I wanted to play some older games like RedAlert2 on it. The problem is that The screen size on the game is too small. Instead of stretching like a PC monitor, the screen size on the tv is only as large as the resolution I :set. And the max resolution the game will let me set is 1024x768 which doesn't take up nearly as much of the screen as I would like it too. I looked at the master game list and it looks like I have to modify the RA2.ini file, but I'm not exactly sure how I am supposed to modify it. Optimally, I would like it running in 1920x1080. I was also wondering if there is just a general solution to this problem that would work with all games. Or do I have to figure out how to modify each individual game to have a full display on the tv? Thanks in advance for any help.

Each game will have a different method needed to get it to work in widescreen, and each will have to be done individually.

Here's the solution for Red Alert 2:

For 1920x1080, you'd have the settings at:

[Video]
ScreenWidth=1920
ScreenHeight=1080
StretchMovies=no

One thing you should know- this is a 2D game and it doesn't scale at high resolutions. This means that at 1920*1080, you will be seeing 2.64 times more of the map than the game was designed to display. I don't know if this will cause any technical problems, I've only tried it at 1280x800, but trying to recognize an 8x32 pixel GI could be tough.

Thanks for the reply. I tried it out at 1920x1080 and it looks really good. I don't have any kind of technical problems and I dont have any issues trying to see smaller units.
