Drop this file into your DATA folder inside the Freelancer directory after performing Paradigm Shifter's instructions on setting up the correct resolution. This file corrects the FOV and will show the menu buttons.

I have noticed that this might apply to the game only after starting a new game. Autosaves seem particularly affected.

EDIT : It is possible to mod the game to fully utilize the improved horizontal resolution by modifying the ini files inside the DATA folder (particularly those dealing with the HUD). You can decode them using a BINI decompressor available on http://www.lancersreactor.com.

Happy Freelancing!

I've updated the camers.ini file so that the menu is a bit more visible. Also, I have observed that, for the hack to take effect, FL MUST go into space atleast once. Even cutscenes will do (like the initial Freeport 7 destruction). Once this is done, the FOV will be set for that session. When you restart FL, you must do this again.

It is not very elegant, but its better than nothing...

Here is a screenshot. Please use another host if you decide to use this as my bandwidth is very limited :(

Any chance someone could re-host the camera.ini file? It appears to have dropped off the map? :(

It looks like simply modifying the top line in the cameras.ini file adjusts the positions of the icons so that they don't get cut off at the top and bottom of the screen.

I have mine set as:

[WinCamera]
fovx = 64.504809977813375

on a 1680x1050 screen

This works perfectly - only remaining problem is that its necessary to launch to space before the icons become visible - but then they remain visible in the correct position until you restart

Hi,

I have tried the camera.ini fix but I'm still having issues with the top icons. I'm using a 1360x768 resolution wich is 16/9 unlike your 16/10 resolution, do you know the value to have the buttons display properly in such a screen, many thanks.
