OF course, being EA, i expect it to end up being vert-.

But i DO have a glimmer of hope that it WILL Do hor+.

I really want it to. Now that they're FINALLY moving on from the kiddy
make-your-car-LOOK-totally-awesome-while-ignoring-better-gameplay-in-the-same-city-once-again
and on towards simulation and better RACING, I've higher hopes than the last.. er.. 4 games?

Then again, it looks like tracks = no cop chases.

So, anyone try that demo yet?

Bizarre. ... It seems to keep your aspect ratio correct no matter what resolution you pick, and i see no option to manually change this aspect ratio... So therefore, i can't get any pics of 4:3 or 5:4 as it keeps resolutions such as 1024x768 and 1280x1024 in 16:10 ....

4:3

16:10

4:3

16:10

So it's either stretched (which looking at proportions i don't think so) , or it decides what aspect ratio you're getting and sticks to it. I guess it's getting the information from your hardware?

Will need someone with a non-wide monitor to take some screens to see if it's vert- or what.

Well.. 16:9 SHOULD have a little more, no?

I got teh same screenie results as eZ'.. but unlike the preious vert- NFS's, there's a fair amount of room between teh bottom of teh bumper adn teh bottom of the screen. Looks okay so far.

maybe after i wake (though i'm sure someone will beat me to it) i'mm set proper scaling adn try again.

g'night, folkers.

have you tried setting the desktop to a 4:3 res beforehand? maybe that's what it uses to select an aspect ratio.

I'd try it but I deleted it about 10 mins after I got it and finished it.

At least they finally made a new game rather than slap newish gfx on the same engine they've used the past 3 games or so.

Your screenshots are not hor+ at all.

4:3 has the same content horizontally as the 16:10 screenshot you have. That's why I said in your screenshots, 4:3 is squished.

It also looks like your 16:10 screenshot doesn't contain the same content horizontally as my 16:9 screenshot from my 360.

No you don't understand..., it's selecting the correct aspect ratio, so yes 4:3 is squished because it's obviously selected a 16:10 aspect ratio to display the 1024x768 res, so that on my widescreen monitor (which it must have found out from either hardware information or as Mesh suggested, your desktop res) it displays correctly. And yes you'll see more on the sides in 16:9 than my 16:10 shots, which suggests that indeed it is hor+!

I'm going to try switching my other monitor to primary and see if it selects a 5:4 AR automatically for it seeing as it's native is 1280x1024.

EDIT
So here they are ...

5:4

16:10

5:4

16:10

We have ourselves a potentially certified game ......
