I have a 22" widescreen, 1680x1050 native (16:10). I have tried the custom resolution hack in the confirmed solutions section. No joy. I've also tried editing every single resolution that I could find in all the .ini files found in the Offline folder with no better results.

Double Agent is patched to V1.02, the hack did not work before, nor after the patch. There is a 16:10 mode listed in the in game graphics menu, however the only resolution listed in that mode is 1280x960, isn't that 4:3? No matter what resolution I try to select and apply in game, I get black bars on my screen. Skinny black bars on top and bottom if I select the 16:9 resolution they offer, and everything is stretched horribly on the horizontal. Any other resolution I select gives me wide bars down the sides of my screen with no stretching. No .ini file edits I've made have changed any of this, and the settings I'm putting in the .ini are sticking. They're right before I load the game, and they're right when I quit, but the game isn't displaying widescreen (not even it's own 'supported' resolutions) properly.

Any ideas? Need more info? I believe I've read every bit of info there is on this site about Double Agent, but if I've overlooked something, please let me know.

EDIT - Patially working! I found the .ini file the game is using. Check out this file path..
Code:
c:UsersFletchAppDataLocalVirtualStoreProgram Files (x86)UbisoftTom Clancy's Splinter Cell Double AgentSCDA-OfflineSystem

The game is completely ignoring the .ini files in the game directory. Now I can get it to run at 1680*1050 using the .ini found at the end of that monstous file path, but it stretches. There is no FOV setting in that .ini file. Can I simply add the FOV section to this .ini?

Yes, painstakingly. I finally found a config file that allowed me to set the resolution, but it doesn't correctly address the FOV. The file I had to edit was not listed in the solution or in the DR, it was found in a separate location all together (detailed in my post). Nothing I changed in the config files listed in the solution and DR had any effect on the game at all.

Operating system differences maybe?

Regardless, it doesn't matter much any more. I finished the game this morning, uninstalled it and I'm prepared to forget about it. Buggy pile of trash that it is, I won't be playing it again.

Thank you for your reply though :)

Yes, most solutions are written for XP and below, so some solutions might need to be adopted to Vista.:)

Just tried Double Agent on Vista myself and had the same problem with the ini tweak not working. Here is the firm solution:

Go to the directory listed above for Vista and change the splintercell4.ini there as described in the solution, then make the file read-only. Then, copy and paste the splintercell4user.ini from the directory described in the XP solution to the new Vista directory... even though it did not exist before, the game will read the new .ini anyway and the FOV will be correct. I made this file read-only as well.

The game should launch in your desired resolution and FOV and run perfectly in Vista. I wouldn't touch the in-game settings while playing though, the game is notoriously buggy as hell.

Thanks to Astaroth for finding that file location!
