This grading thing does make no sense. Game like this that never was inteded to be widescreen( and does not work in higher res- invisible hero) gets B while game like NFS Prostreet (witch is perfectly widescreen) gets C ?!? |

You have to look at it from all perspectives. From the perspective of a 1920x1200 user, this game makes them fall back to 1680x1050 mode, while NFS ProStreet works perfectly. But from the perspective of a 1280x768 user, this game works perfectly after a simple .ini edit, while ProStreet will not work at all unless they hack 1280x768 into the executable (something a lot of people simply can not or will not do). ProStreet's "worst case" scenario is harsher than this game's "worst case" scenario, so ProStreet gets the lower grade. |

oh i understand your perspective count, [Edited by Admin] We do not tolerate this kind of language or attitude. This is a friendly community. If you can't discuss and debate in a civil tone, then you should find somewhere else to hang your virtual hat. The grading system is lengthy and complicated, and takes into account a myriad of different issues and circumstances. There are times when the grades of two games may not make sense, when compared to each other. But, the system as a whole stands up and is consistent. We are not above adjustments and refinements - we recently did so for the 16:10 anamorphic behavior of Penny Arcade Ep 1. Debate is welcome, but your tone isn't. This is your one warning before ban. And, if you'd like to discuss the grading system overall - start a new thread. There is no reason to hijack this one any further. |

The flaws are listed and explained. You seem more upset with the grade for NFS then this one so why not contact the devs? |

sorry but how come a game that dont support high resolution, support widescreen only by hack, every cut scene it switch to 800x600 and it gets a medal here silver, and a game that is native widescreen Pro street gets c only because it dosent work on moderetor laptop or a tv its rubbish Let me break this down point by point: 1 - We do not consider an edit a .ini file a hack. It is a simply text edit. Editing hex - that is a hack 2 - ProStreet is no where near a flawless "native support." The HUD, all 2D elements and the FMVs stretch vertically. So, every Non-3D component has a problem, and it lacks support for a major HDTV resolution. Like it or not, we give special consideration to 1280x768. It is a 15:9 ratio, not 16:9 or 16:10. If something doesn't support a particular 16:9 or 16:10 ratio, then something else will scale. But, there is no other resolution that will properly scale to 1280x768 3 - Cranky is not a moderator. He is a major contributor to the site, but you will not see his title listed as Moderator. What I don't get is that you seem more upset about the difference in a letter grade, than the lackluster support from the developer. Does our grade change your enjoyment of the game? Are you from EA and upset you didn't get a 2nd place medal? Are you biased against the temple, because it's filled with elemental evil? TOEE was made long before widescreens, and has relatively good support. NFSPS was made long after widescreens had become popular, and they should have done better. Neither game has perfect support, and complaining that one got a 2nd place medal and the other got the equivalent of a 3rd place medal is rather moot. At the end of the day, we will settle for nothing less than perfection. |
