Hi there,

So Prince of Persia (the latest one, with cell shaded graphics). It should support 1920*1080 just fine (since you can pick that resolution in the settings menu). But when i set it to that resolution (which is my native screen resolution), and try to start up the game, my monitor goes black, and i get the message DVI out of range. The game is running in the background (i hear the music), but can't see anything except for that DVI message.

No idea how to fix this. If i use other resolutions it works...

setup:
i7 920
Asus GTX275
6 GB ram
LG W2442PA (24')
Windows 7.

Anyone any suggestion on this?

Thanks in advance.

Regards,

Erik.

PoP seems to select your maximum refresh rate without asking you. I tried multiple times to change the refresh rate of it without success.

If it is doing this, it means the EDID data of your monitor is being fetched incorrectly and is listing a higher refresh rate than your monitor is capable of. Try and update your drivers so the correct maximum refresh is shown, or use a tool like Rivatuner to create your own monitor driver.

Basically it's likely PoP is trying to select 75hz when your monitor can only do 60hz.

Ok, thanks for your quick respons. Is creating your own monitor driver something hard? I've never done anything like that. I've updated to the latest drivers (they came on CD with the monitor). I did try to look on the LG site for new ones, but the download page didn't work.

Doesn't the DirectX overrider works ?

For those who don't know what's the DirectX override:
-click Start then Run, type in "dxdiag"
-click the "more help" tab then "override"
-select desired refresh rate (eg 60)
-start the game

There's also an application which could be perhaps used to lock refresh rate which is called "RefreshLock" http://www.pagehosting.co.uk/rl/
It worked for me in other games when I needed it.
it needs to be setup at correct refresh rates though
-start up refreshlock
-uncheck "Always use the fastest frequency for mode"
-go to the 1920x1200 line and change it to 60Hz
-leave the rest at "0", leave the application open or in systray
-start the game

Unfortunately I can't try those myself as I don't own the game yet

I used to use RefreshLock when I used a CRT - some games would make it do 1024x768@60Hz... when the monitor could do twice that. Flicker city...

Ok, so i've just attempted your suggestions. The first one didn't work cause i could not find the tab you mentioned in my dxdiag menu...

The second did work. It starts in fullscreen mode. But now i can't get past the loading screen :S. I'm in the menu, select new game, it starts loading, and it just freezes. Not sure why, but i'm going to try some things.

Thanks for the help! Very good site this is.

FYI, if you're numbering the series, this would be Prince of Persia 7.
