Just re-update the drivers for your monitors in device manager.

First, REBOOT your system after flashing if you didn't do this already.
If the problem still occurs, I would try to uninstall your monitor drivers. Oh, and remember to check the 'remove driver files' (something like that) when asked.

The location Windows Vista/7 stores the EDID information is in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetEnumDISPLAY[MONITORID][SOMEID]Device Parameters, value "EDID". Modify or delete at your own risk.

Anything special you needed to do to unlock your 2408WFP EDID? If so, I will update the start post with the information.

When i try to update the 2008 model it gives me a Blank screen of a solid colour then the PC restarts.

i did this for the 2009 model but that seems to have flashed fine....

Will keep trying

This is crazy, ATI really shouldn't be pumping stuff out that encourages people to do potentially damaging things to their monitors. I'm stopping short of re-flashing the EDID on my monitors. If ATI can't point their driver at the EDID overrides in the registry instead of the monitors themselves within a few driver releases then I'll be taking a look at what nvidia can offer.

Since the Dell 2408 has a display port connector (or am I wrong?), maybe it is a good idea to connect the HP via DVI and flash the DVI EDID of the HP?

I think i will end up selling my HP LP2475w....

HP replyed to an email i wrote about an EDID update from them and they said:

Hello James,

Thank you for contacting HP e-Solutions.

This email is with reference to the case number: 3683311 for HP LP2475w Flat LCD Monitor.

According to your e-mail, I understand that there is a mismatch in the EDID chip data. Hence, you need an update for the EDID chip to correct that data.

I will surely assist you in providing the required information.

James, since we are from the technical support department we isolate and troubleshoot the issue remotely, however to get a fix for the hardware related issues I suggest that you please contact your nearest HP ASP in your location or contact your country support to get a onsite service for the same.

Please be informed that you have reached the HP North American Support Group. We appreciate your business and we will continue to assist you to troubleshoot this issue on a best effort basis. We at the HP Support Team would provide you assistance for all technical queries.

However, please note that during the process, if this requires a replacement of any specific parts or if the system requires to be picked up for service, then we would also request you to contact the ASP in your location.

I would also like to inform you that all the emails are routed to HP North American Support Group. Hence, I request you to call the HP UK support or you could chat with HP UK support for any replacement.

Please click on the following web link to get the support web page for your region:

http://welcome.hp.com/country/uk/en/contact/contact_us.html

Once again, thank you for contacting HP e-Solutions.

So i will be calling UK HP in the morning.

They seem to say its a mismatch so hopefully they can send someone to fix it or give me a guide to fix it.

There is a reason there is an option to unlock EDID writeing so hopefully i can get this sorted.

if i cant then i will be selling it and buying one more dell 2408wfp and useing that.

When you phone the UK team, tell them it's the same issue as I have reported in case #4611341283 (which is still outstanding). It would be good to let them know there's more than one of us (at least!)

By the way, the hp UK support number is 0845 1610030
