I'm running a 5850 (10.3a preview drivers) on Windows 7. I just got my DP->VGA adapter but eyefinity isn't working. I have two 23" inch monitor (Acer X233H via DP->VGA adapter and H233H via DVI) on the sides of a 32" LCD TV (1360x768, via DVI->VGA adapter).
so 23" (DVI) - 32" (DVI->VGA) - 23" (DP->VGA)

I got all 3 screens to run 1360x768. However when I go to create a display group, and select the 3x1 option and press ok the displays begin to blink, then it ends up being all 3 monitors in clone mode with a res of 640x480. Now under "Desktops and Display", if I right click on the one display that's there and select property, it says the Desktop Type is "Eyefinity Duplicate", however I can only select 640x480, 800x600 and 1024x768 as resolution...

All 3 monitors are capable of running 1360x768, why won't Eyefinity work? Any pointer is much appreciated.

UPDATE: Now I tried to remove my HDTV, I ran it with only the two 23 inch monitor on DVI and DP->VGA, eyefinity display group worked perfectly... what gives? I know the HDTV has a different native resolution, but shouldn't eyefinity automatically select the highest common resolution?

When I have my HDTV plugged in, it has one more option above 1360x768@60hz which is 1920x1080 @ 30hz interlaced, could that be the problem? I can't seem to remove that resolution even though I used Power Strip to create a monitor driver whose max resolution is 1360x768

I could be wrong, but when you are mixing a HDTV into an eyefinity group, I think that it may have a different aspect ratio than the other two monitors which maybe the source of the problem. There are some people I have seen on the forums able to mix up different sized monitors, but I bet all have the same native max resolution and aspect ratio. This technology is still so new that unfortunately there just isn't alot of data from every brand of monitor/tv/adapter in various combo's to come up with easy solutions for the different problems that come up.

I'll add what I've experienced. Mixing aspect ratios hasn't been a problem for me. I've done Eyefinity on the grossest mis-matches of monitors, every combination of 1280x1024, 1680x1050, 1920x1080 and 1920x1200 and it always selected the highest common resolution like you were saying. (For the longest time I was using 1920x1080+1680x1050+1280x1024)

However my buddy has a 1368x768 HDTV/monitor and I could not get it to work in Eyefinity at all. Whenever I created the group that screen would go black and the 2 other monitors would clone at some low resolution. I assumed it was just that HDTV/monitor because it's always has weird problems.

You might try editing the EDID to put the max res at like 1280x768 though and see if that has better luck. I'll see if I can hook up his HDTV/monitor again and tinker with it too.

nearly 2 years to the day since this thread was started and I am having this exact problem...

I am running a 7970 and 3 Dell 2410's - 2 are coupled via Displayport and the other via DVI. The drivers I am using are the beta 12.4's - as soon as I setup a display group I get 3 duplicate monitors and nothing I do will get it to expand the group to eyefinity resolution - strange thing is that when I back out, one of my monitors shows as being HDTV at 1080p even though I have checked its set at 1920*1200 before trying to setup the group. I have uninstalled and re-installed drivers so many times and have had more blue screens in the past 3 months from ATi's drivers that I am at the point of turning green ;)

Please try the following an let me know if it works:

You don't have to clean out your drivers persé, but it might help if my tips won't work. Before you click the create eyefinity display group button in CCC, you need to only have your center monitor activated. So disable both extended desktop and duplicated monitors by going to 'screen resolution' (rightclick on desktop). There all but your center monitor have to be greyed out. Now you can create the eyefinity display group without problems hopefully. If you have the option of disabling a group you have already created, click on that first before you create a new group.

Thanks very much for your help Wijkert - that wasnt the fix but pointed me in the right direction! this almost drove me crazy - I went through every option I could think of disabling monitors, re-installing drivers for the umpteenth time, etc. Finally I found that windows Screen Resolution settings were overriding the CCC settings!?!

It was simply a matter of creating the group which showed as being "eyefinity duplicate" in the CCC and then going into the windows screen resolution settings and pushing the slider to the correct resolution and eyefinity started working!
