Hey guys I don't game much, but since this setup is so good for them, I figure I should have some games I can fire up to show people. I played starcraft for a bit with eyefinity, but that game doesn't seem to take advantage of the 4800x2560 resolution to zoom out or anything, so if you guys could tell me whats good that will be more eye popping that would be awesome.

I think at best you'll only find 2 or 3 people with any practical experience with 3x 30" portrait. I'm interested in seeing how some games look on it too. Would be cool to see soem DSLR and screenshots. 3x1P 30" is significantly more rare than 5x1P 24".

Running 24" in protrait makes for really tall gaming. I'd think 30" portrait height would be way too overpowering as far as height of screens for regular desktop. As is i question 24" portrait height. I'd just as soon go down to 22" on my personal setup. The difficulty is finding a good 1920x1200 screen with small bezels in the 22" range.

Personally I'd think 30" portrait would work better than 24". Most 30" screens are 16:10 and the physical size of a 30" screen is wider. I found when I put my 24" 16:9 screens in portrait they are too thin and the bezals really cut into your fov. With landscape you can concentrate on the center screen and the bezals blend into your peripheral vision while portrait they are right in front of you. The physical size of a 30" 16:10 screen I'd think would push the bezals out of your front view.

30" in portrait mode are so tall they become an egonomic neck issue is what I'm getting at. It's like standing 24" away from a 48" hdtv as far as size.

I used to run a 3x1 P setup, the issue i had with it is that my stands would have the displays arched upward. Also it was a bit tall (need a lower desk). I played UT2004 and Halo 2 (windowed) on it. It make for a nice 90" low lag (slightly wider than) 16:9 screen. But in general I don't find really any game except rts's good with that configuration. When I get two more, I'll go back to portrait, then I probably have a couch facing the screens too.

What monitors did you use in your 3x1P config? I'm thinking about going 5x1P (with either 22's or 23's), but really want to make sure I could see the 3 center monitors as one, and use the outer 2 in my peripheral vision. I mainly play fps, what were your issues experienced when you played them?

Thanks!
-Erik

I'm was / am using 3 x Dell 3007wfp-hc monitors.

The only issues I had were with the hud. Even games that adjust for centered hud, don't generally have any setting for 5x1. With source engine games, and other games we have fixes for, it's not so bad. Otherwise I didn't have any real issues. (besides there not being a 5x1 eyefinity setup until recently)

Anything not too damanding... but something like X3: Terran Conflict should look impressive.

I'd try something like Jedi Knight 2 just for kicks. :D

3x30" in triple portrait or triple landscape mode? I honestly am a bit confused at how anyone could fit in 3x30" landscape on any of their desks and not sit half a mile away from it
