That's another question, why does it need to be the max res? A lot of people drop the res of some games to enable them to get better frame rates. "Let's face it Anti-aliasing is much more important that resolution." - opinion

ATI have usually gone for quality rather than performance, and running things at native res. even with less AA is just that.

It of course in part depends what display you're using and it's scaling engine but I've always seen a better image at native res. with lower AA than lower res. and higher AA.

The slight gain in performance by res. dropping ain't worth it to me.

I run GTA IV in Th2go at 4320x900, even though I could run it at 5040x1050 because it's much more playable at that resolution.

....

That is good to hear, I think ATI has a hit here in EF.

Hi geniv2,

After you have all 3-mons grouped into 1 then go to CCC and from Desktop Properties change your Resoultion from the Desktop area: pulldown.

Not sure if this will work for you, but this where it would be done at.

it works yes and no..

YES - you can change to other triplehead resolution
3840x1024 and 2400x600 but they are 4:3 ratio resolution

NO - I don't see options for 5040x1050,4320x900, 4030x768 or other 16:10 ratio resolutions

Ya geniv2,

I tried what you want to do and was unable as well, as it appears the native resolution is used for Eyefinity at this time, hopefully that will be changed with other driver updates.

One can only hope.

What about one of those resolution changing programs would that work?

Forgive me for asking a stupid question, as I am new and just wondering.

Thanks,
Deke

EF
+ supports 5760x1200 and 5040x1050 at 60 Hz
+ no need to mess with extra software
- no support for lower than native res
- no support for XP
- no support for CrossFire
- no support for Bezel Management

I just need to clarify - there is support for non-native resolutions, though we do not offer all perumations dues to the complexities and setup time.

Catalyst will offer 3 modes of Display Group resolution - Native, "Medium" and low (basically a multiple of 800x600, chosen as a compatability option). Medium will change dependant on the other resolutions available to the panel.

There are ideas on how we go about offering more custom resolutions, but these will take time unforunatly.

Yes I knew that part, that you support 3840x1024 I think. But you may as well not even support that. 3840x1024 would look so messed up on my three 16:10 displays, I don't even see the point in using it.

As soon as you start offering bezel management and an option to get lower resolutions (3x1680x1050 and possibly 3x1440x900), I will very seriously consider getting an ATI HD 5xxx card. As you can see, I already have an ATI card, so I am supporting your company, but I think those are two things (the res and bezel) that you should be able to support with a driver update. I don't know how much work is involved in getting those things to work so I won't take a guess. Just like how ATI eventually did give us support for 5040x1050 @ 59 Hz on Matrox (which I am very grateful for), I'm sure that soon they will give us those things that I ask for.

As already mentioned, bezel management is already under development and is the next major feature to be added.
