If you are an HD 5850 user and want to try a BIOS update (again, same caveats apply as before) then you can try the following one:

I flashed my 5870 yesterday and have not had any problems with monitors since. I am going to play some games today for a bit and switch back and forth from Eyefinity to Extended and see if everything still works.

Just curious what is different in the updated bios that would be fixing this issue?

Dave has there been any tests from amd/ati on these bios as a real fix for the flashing issues? Or are we the only ones testing these bios?

Just curious why the old bios would be causing these issues.

Because so far it has seemed to fix my issue.

So my question is why were the cards not shipped with a working bios. If it is a Bios issue then you think it would have happened during testing right.

Note:
I am still having an issue where if ATI overdrive is enabled at all and I mean just checking the check box. No OC or anything then I get horrible tearing when in extended mode. Will this be fixed in a driver update or is it a known driver issue I should say. Because this happened with old bios and new and all also drivers 9.10, 9.11, and 9.12.

What problem is still here?

Did you ever flash your BIOS.

Do you have a link to the 10.1 Beta?

Why don't they post beta drivers on ATI website never understood that or at least I could never find them. Nvidia always post the beta drivers.

Found something here: http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?p=2161132

...but the link is broken :( Can't be much longer till the release, but yes, having access to the beta driver for the $800+ worth of video cards I purchased would be nice.

Also, it would be nice to have my free copy of Dirt 2, 22 days into my purchase, but that doesn't seem to be in the cards either. Good news is that I still have 6 days to return them should I choose.

/rant

On the good side, I have been fairly happy overall and am really looking forward to this driver to make my final (prior to having no return option) evaluation.

From what I understand, the new bios increases the signal strength to the DP port. Some of the older LCD monitors require higher signal strength to prevent the blinking. So far so good. The new bios seems to be working well. No blinking at all since yesterday.
