i finally got my ATi HD5770

SO FAR I DO NOT LIKE IT IN TERMS of multi monitor support

i am using the newly release 9.11 driver
on windows 7 RC eval x64 on a machine with 8gig ram and c2d E8500

1) i have 3x Acer x203w
some how i recently was able to get 5040x1050 rez on a TH2g box via and GeForce8800GTS (was not the case before, though matrox had new drivers)

with the TH2G in conjunction with HD5770, i only can get all the wide screen (3x)3:4 aspect screens like 3072x768 etc.
so HD5770 + TH2g does not allow me (3x)16:10 resolutions.

2) i try to set up a dual monitor setup. (NO TH2g involved)

again FAIL.

i tried to use (2x) Acer x203w in a (1x2) display group.
I WANTED to achieve 1680x2100
a) in CCC under destop&displays, i see my 2 monitors and have them mirrored
b) then in the 1 display, i choose 'display group', and select 'create group'
c) selected "2 Displays (1 x 2)" (also tried 2 Displays (2 x 1))
d) the monitors go off and then back on twice
e) the CCC freezes to a point where i can NOT click on anything in the CCC dialogue box except 'options' -> help ( everything else is greyed out or un-clickable and both 'OK' and 'APPLY' are greyed out

f) i close out CCC, and open up CCC again
g) i am in desktop and displays, it shows the display group
h) under the display group's properties, it was automatically set a 1600x1200 (basic), and when i select 1690x2100 (grouped), it would reject my selection and bring me back up to 1600x1200
i) desktop options for grouped were 800x1200, 1280x2048, and 1680x2100, where ONLY 800x1200 successfully worked

at the moment im going to say is WTF !!!

is it the driver, or monitor??

going to try another driver.. both old and maybe there are win7 RC eval specific drivers??

I'd love to give you a tutorial on how to get it working but setting up my 5850 was such a nightmare, I can't even remember what got it to start working, I think it just finally gave in.

Pioneering new stuff, always fun.

catalyst need several attempts to set it right.
so its not just go from 2 single display directly to eyefinity as it need to configure the screens. I had some issues going back and forth.

I basically just did the same thing again.
First time I got greyed out and locked.
Redid and worked.

amd forum admin isnt that helpful.

I use windows 7 64bit RC
5850.
ccc 9.11 whql.
Just set eyefinity again using 5760x1080 as I type this.
I have a 5850 but that shouldnt matter and I am using a native DP screen the dell P2210hd.

Even if it isnt supported w7 RC it should work as basically its the same OS.

Dang, my setup worked right away with no problems or quirks.

BTW, ATI's control panel layout is confusing as hell. They could do a MUCH better job of simplifying Eyefinity/multimon setups for those not familiar with it.

Is it a fresh Windows install? Otherwise it could be old drivers from NV or TH2G interfering with the ATI drivers.
