The frustration and hair-pulling begins anew!

Is the adapter getting enough electricity? That seems to be the most common cause of issue.

I have a 1000W PSU as shown in the specs in my signature below. That should be ample.

He is talking about the current requirement for the adapter. Some motherboards cannot supply the current for the current draw of the active adapter. In some cases like this; the adapter needs to be pluged into a dedicated power source with ample current. Find out how many amps the adapter draws; should be printed on label somewhere on the device. Then go do walmart or radioshack and find an adapter that can output at least that much current on the DC side; so make sure you are reading the DC current and not the AC current. Give that a try and supply some feedback.

The active adapter I have does not have an external plug and therefore does NOT plug into any USB port on the motherboard. It is all contained in one unit that plugs only into the video card's Mini DisplayPort. So, the adapter is NOT drawing power from the motherboard, but from the video card which is drawing power from the PSU via TWO Six-pin plugs. And, those two Six-pin plugs are from a 1000W PSU. And, to be very clear, this IS an ACTIVE adapter as stated right on the package AND on the adapter itself.

I went through this ordeal with the HD 5770 trying to use one of those other active adapters that DID plug into a USB port for power. That did not work successfully (as reported here elsewhere) and I finally found an excellent working solution using a DP -> VGA adapter made by Monster. Sadly, though, AMD decided to change from the standard DisplayPort to two Mini-DisplayPorts...rendering my previously excellent working adapter useless for the new video card.

EDIT: I updated the link in my original post as it apparently got truncated. Here it is again....

Have you tried a single monitor configuration with just the displayport adapter hooked up?

Check to see if at least you can drive one display from that adapter.

It doesn't even display at POST. So, no, it does not provide a display....PERIOD.

I've tried a couple more options. I will NEVER EVER buy another ACCELL product. NONE of them have worked for me and they ignore any email support requests. It's now been almost FOUR days since my email to them and, in spite of a clearly noted promise to respond withing 24 hours, I have not gotten even the decency of an acknowledgment that they even got my email.

However, I DO have Eyefinity working again! YAY!

How?

I bought a Mini-DisplayPort -> DisplayPort Adapter and then got another Monster-brand DP -> VGA adapter. Voila!
