From experience, I found that Cat drivers are unique to each rig. ie, the variables are great. It sucks that a set of drivers (which are universal) are so SENSITIVE to hardware/software combinations.

I would suggest to magnet :

1. Plug the adapter into a wall mounted USB unit. After testing, I found this to be stable. ie, far less dropouts.
2. As he is not using crossfire, I would imagine any Cat driver to be stable. However, from experience, I found Cat 10.3 or 10.4 to be most stable.

I have at least solved one of my issues.

Now to concentrate on quadfinity performance issues.

The adventure continues.

What is your experience with the 10.7a hotfix drivers? It gave my setup quite a boost. Must say this goes primarely for Win7 64 bit.. 32 bit gets some system memory starvation..

Cat 10.7 Hotfix gave a performance boost.

However, Dirt 2 crashes during level loading/benchmark.

BC2 crashed. Hard reset.

Tried reinstalling both games. Still the same.

HAWX was the only game to run using quadfinity. 106 FPS ave.

Crysis (2560x1600 Very High 0AA DX10) gave 55FPS ave.

If it wasn't for the crashing, I would use these drivers at the drop of a hat.

I believe others are having crashes in other apps.

Buggy drivers?

The one positive is that the DP adapter issue is now resolved.

I feel like I've been on a treadmill for a year, sorting out issues.

Hi,
I did connect the usb of the accell adapter to a wall power adapter, but still the same blacking out issue. This week-end I also found out that the monitor connected to the DP does not even wake up from sleep. It definitely seems like a driver issue. Maybe the bios update on the card and the new 2.0 firmware on the accell alleviated things, but I can confirm that the issue is still present.

You are right, it could be that the CAT drivers perform differently from one hardware to another.
That's why I am contemplating returning my sapphire card and getting a different brand.
Does anyone know if this issue happens less, or more on certain brands of cards?

TBH, I don't think it's "brand" related.

The only thing I haven't tried is the BIOS flash. This is the LAST resort.

I can suggest three options:

1. Wait for better drivers. I know what you're thinking..........
2. Go Green.
3. Have you tried lowering your res?

Not the "best" options I admit, but options none the less.

I just contacted Accell and this is their reply:
"
Thanks for providing your system set-up information.

You provided that you are using AMD graphic card and Hanns·G HH-241HPB Black 23.6" 5ms HDMI Widescreen LCD Monitor. Please note that AMD driver does not support HDMI monitor that is attached to DVI port on the dongle. So this is compatibility issue. "
Best regards,

Is this true? I am using an HDMI to DVI cable which then connects to the Dongle. Anyone using HDMI monitor having the same problem?

So here just to throw my experience into the mix...

Card: 5870E6
Driver: 10.6
Adaptor: Bizlink Active DP to Dual-link DVI (dell resell them).
Adaptor Firmware: 034
Adaptor Model: BZL-KS10008(B)

For ages I tried to get this to work, without even any detection on my PC.
I have tried many combinations and port configurations, none of them worked.

I have however found a way to get it to work!!

Powering the device with a HTC phone charger that is a 240V Mains plug to USB 5V @ 1A, it works perfectly - not a single flicker!!!
I had previously tried USB1.0/2.0 @ 500mA even USB3.0 which provides 900mA to no avail.

Other USB chargers may also prove to help, such as those of the iPad which provides up to 1.2A.

EDIT:- I beleive that a custom built USB power cable would also work.
Method 1: Using 2 usb cables, split them both in half and solder the 2 male ends together linked to the female connector like in a Y cable splitter, this way you can use 2 USB ports to give a total of up to 5V @ 1Amp or 1.8Amp if using 2x USB3.0 sockets.
EDIT again or use this cable.

Method 2: Use a single USB cable, and attach the power cables to the 5V pins of a molex connector (+5v is RED with Ground as Black) that would normally be used to drive say hard drives/dvd drives, fans etc.
/EDIT

The cable connections are thus...

|DP>DVI(passive)| |DP>DVI(passive)| |DP>DVI(active)| |DP>VGA| |none| |none|
Each monitor running at 1920x1080.

I found the apple adapters pretty cheap, what are people's consensus on them?

Also, I recommend this cable to anyone running an Eyefinity6 + native Display Port monitor:http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=102&cp_id=10246&cs_id=1024606&p_id=6007&seq=1&format=2

And so, another enters the ring: http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=104&cp_id=10428&cs_id=1042802&p_id=6904&seq=1&format=4#feedback

I'd pick one (or 3) up, but I don't have the money. There are limited quantities. The email said only 100. snag 'em up boys.
