Any rumors on when we'll get the eyefinity 5 or 6 edition of this card so I can upgrade the 5x1? Or do we have to putz around with that DP breakout hub? |

I heard that manufacturers can do non-reference designs. But I believe this issue is that AMD hasn't released a reference for eyefinity 6 edition for those new cards. I may be completely wrong, but it's what I heard. |

There is an EF 5/6 card in the works for the 6900 series. Do you still think the 6990 will be ef/6 ready? I hope it is. Sold my 5970 a month ago for very good money as I knew it would depreciate badly once the 6970 came out. I am using 260gtx in sli but I have to give back on the first of Jan. Will have a 250gts to use until I decide on new gpu. I want 5x1P but I do not really want a breakout box. I also want physx without having to go to a 3 card system. That is why the 5970 worked so well for me with the 250gts as physx card. Just hoping 6990 can do 5x1 portrait from the get go. Winter in North Dakota here and I have much more time to game. |

Hi Ibrin, I'm new round here but I see in your profile it says founder and I know this is the biggest wide screen / multi screen forum, so I wonder if you can tell me for sure that you're not just speculating and if there really is definitely an eyefinity 6 6xxx series on the way. I am in the process of specing/buying for a 3x2 eyefinity setup and am pretty stuck right now since the 6970 looks great but doesn't have 6 ports and the displayport 1.2 hubs are not available yet with seemingly no information available about when they will be out. If you do know something for sure, perhaps you could share whether this will be an eyefinity 6 single gpu card, a 6990 with it built in or something else entirely. Thanks |

Sources at AMD have confirmed that the 6900-series EyeFinity6 is in planning, but no manufacturing partners have made them yet. I'm uncertain if these will be an AMD OEM design or if they're going to be a non-reference design made by manufacturing partners though. This came up as a side topic when I was inquiring about 5x1 portrait in late November. I don't know anything further about it than what I've posted in this message. |

Thanks for the information. This build is now being put on a 2 or 3 month timescale due to other stuff I have going on, cost and compexity (a lot of modding and building to do I think) so I'll wait and hope the E6 isn't too long in coming. I guess otherwise I can also wait for the DP1.2 hubs, but I really need one or the other for this to progress. |

6990 with 6x DP1.2 + 6x MST hubs for drive up 24 monitors is my dream lol unfortunately, your dream may just be that. Though if they did do it that way, it would be very flexible. |

6990 with 6x DP1.2 + 6x MST hubs for drive up 24 monitors is my dream lol The problem would then again be driver configuration, not hardware. They only just in the last few weeks released 5x1. |
