Hey all,

I've been combing through the posts to try and solve why I can't get my Eyefinity up and and running.

I have a Powercolor 7950 (1 dvi, 1 hdmi, 2 x mDP)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814131478

Monitor configuration:

HP 2509m DVI > mDP (using DVI to DP cable then DP to mDP dongle passive)
Monoprice IPS zero G DVI > DVI
Benq GW2750 DVI > mDP (using active adapter http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=104&cp_id=10428&cs_id=1042802&p_id=8119&seq=1&format=2)

All monitors are hard coded to DVI (auto select off)
All monitors are set to 1920x1080

I can see all three monitors in both windows and CCC but only get the option to create 2x1 setup.
If I try to select the 3rd monitor, it won't let me save the config.
I can use any pair of the three.

Do I need to have 2 active adapters? or is it possible that the adapter I have isn't supplying enough power?

Any and all advice would be greatly appreciated

Thanks in advanced!! :)

Looks to me as if the adapter you're using is simply a passive one instead of active. The fact that you see three monitors and can only ever use any two of them at the same time also suggests this.

Looking at the adapter you've linked, i cant find anywhere that it says it's active so it's probably safe to assume it's not.

I was leaning that way, but the product description stated that it was powered via the port.
and as you stated, doesn't say active. Thanks! I'll try a different adapter

I did notice that little bit too on the description :)
But I think you can usually assume it's only active if they actually use the word "active".

Do let us know how it works out with the new adapter though :)

There are active adapters that are powered via DP port. You don't need an external Ac adapter.

If it's not big mentioned its mostly and passive adapter.
