I am in the quest for big screen widescreen gaming without bezels and I am ordering two Mitsubishi HC3800 1080p projectors. I want to run them in eyefinity, however, since it is only two projectors I know that there will be a noticeable seam between them.

I have stumbled upon Scalable Display's website which looks amazing
http://www.scalabledisplay.com/products/software/scalabledesktop/traderstation

I was wondering if the edge blending would be compatible with eyefinity. Basically they take two projector images and overlap each other with 20% of their displays. The effect is a display that is not as wide as two seperate displays but wider than one display and without the seam!

So my question is, eyefinity takes two 1920x1080 screens and makes one large 3840x1080 screen, however, since edge blending would cause a loss of 20% you would have an effective resolution of 3168x1080. How would eyefinity handle that? Would the 3168 resolution be posted correctly or would eyefinity conflict with edge blending?

My gawd look at this setup.....how do i get one!

I think you can get far better immersive effect than monitor based eyefinity. But the question is the cost. For scalable display solution I do not know what's the price for the software and the software loading on the cpu. I have set up two projector edge blending for game and the result is amazing than eyefinity. Because we find that software based blending was not stable and cpu heavy we choose hardware based edge blending which often be a price high solution. This year we find Mviewtech release their edge blending product which is cost-effective. I tested it last month and it is quite good for high resultion projection edge blending.

am in not mistaken that projectors dont have bezles so why not just stick them next to each other?????

Have seen this done at uni with eyefinity and they could play games fine... and becuase the Crosshair was in the center of the 2 screens if they aligned them up perfectly it loooked like one large screen

Yea thats what I am going to end up doing. The seam may be a little annoying but at least its not a bezel, also, I will keep my $1,800 until the tech becomes much more affordable.

its cool you got two hd projectors, i have a hd pj and would like to get another but id start fresh so both bulbs aged the same. i also wont do it until LED bulbs are more widespread with their 20K+ lifetime and lack of wear/fade that will be ideal (also removes rainbow effect from dlp) and dlp is 120hz.

Hi I88bastard, I think your solution is OK for certain requirement. the seam will have some impact on the result, because you will have a noticable "line" in the center, but if you do not care it is OK and it will save much money. For those who are care about the "immersive" effect, edge blending is the best choice, believe me if you have set up a seamless ultra wide env. you will never go back to triple-screen monitor.

I called scalabledisplay on the phone the other day, and they said it cost about $2500 per projector. Thats a pretty high price.
A cheaper solutions, or at least something to play with to see if you like how it all works is: http://nthusim.com/

Scalable Display is interesting, but outside the realm of most home builder's budget. That's why I went NTHUSIM Plus on my setup. I inquired about their offerings awhile back but never followed up. It's interesting to now know their pricing though. $2500 per projector is pretty steep for anyone just wanting to build. It sets the entry level to this sort of thing too high to be mainstream. Heck I only paid $700-800 per projector for the actual projectors I used.

If I had unlimited resources I'd do multiple 4kHD projectors with Sol7, but then again that would be way above my pay grade. :D
