EDIT: Sorry I got it working on the desktop but when I try games the res isn't there...... even if you manually add it to .ini files it doesn't work :(

I have plugged in an extra HDD and installed XP on it so I can play Far Cry 2 @ 5040 (mmmmm Ultra High settings at about 45-60 FPS) using the latest drivers. So I thought I would see if you can get 1920x1200 and you can using NV custom res.

So use Cranky's excellent tutorial (now slightly out of date but I'll point out the differences):
1st: De-select Force HD Resolutions and select Allow modes not exposed by the displays (Cranky's 1st image).
2nd: You wont have to select adaptor (3rd image) in Front end parameters, that info will be there and greyed out.
3rd: The stuff in the advanced section is different but the same stuff needs to be changed. Make sure refresh is 60 rather than 57, the polarities are both minus etc.

Now I have XP with 1920x1200 so it is bye bye Vista (and TRI SLI :( but I'll put my 3rd 280 in my other rig for better folding and put the 8800GTX from that into this one as the PhysiX card)

EDIT: whoops in the first image you still have to put 1920x1200 in the Active Hor Pixels and Active vert lines boxes, took the screeny to early ;)

(Admin Edit: I fixed the URL link, and edited the pics to take out the white space - Ibrin)Edit: Thanks my editing skills suck!

As it says on the title :)

I havent got my Matrox yet, can you explain why you had to go to XP to play FC2? You loose DX10 support on such expensive DX10 cards entirely! :(

OK here goes.....

DX10 doesn't work (at the moment) on 5040x1050, nobody has managed to get any games running in DX10 at that res. I have personally tried Crysis/Warhead and FC2, neither worked in DX10 but OK in DX9

The latest NV (180.43, specifically for FC2) drivers don't let you get 5040 (almost, the next res down) in Vista only, they work fine in XP. Matrox are working on it at the moment, but as it stads the latest NV driver you can get 5040 in Vista is 177.41. FarCry is not stable AT ALL with those drivers for me.

So I have installed XP (the only reason I hadn't gone back previously was the lack of 1920 for MP CoD4, BF, etc..which won't do TH). I don't like Vista as much as XP. Now I am happy cos I have the best of both worlds, DX10 so far has been a wildly fluctuating frame rate pile of p00 anyway IMO.

Thanks for the update. I also read the 5 page thread in the meantime, I have some ideas for experimenting too that Ill try when I get the TH2G later this week.

Damn it tho, was planning on running TriSLI on Vista 64. Im no Vista lover (cautiously optimistic maybe), but its not like we have a choice (for DX10 at the very least) really. I assume XP64 is ok too? I adored that OS, fast, super stable and large ram support.

I don't know anything about XP 64 apart from the lack of driver support!

Vista TH is perfectly acceptable apart from FC2, it is the only thing I have had probs with. The older drivers are fine but just not the best ;)

Aaarrgh DAGNAMMIT!

I can select it on the desktop, it is in the GXM but neither CoD4 nor CoDWaW:BETA will accept it! So I will keep looking into it, sorry to get everyones hopes up...can others post their results as well?

Why not run a second cable to your middle monitor and then use the Nvidia/ATI monitor profiles to switch to 1920x1200 before playing a game that doesn't support TripleHead?
