Hey bud, check out below. I just PM'd SparkyMcSparks, one of the moderators over at IW forums. I know, I know, WaW is a Treyarch creation, but my clan is one of a very select few that is supporting WaW with custom maps, so Sparky has heard of us, and when I hit his name, the Treyarch symbol came up. (Looks like they have one IW guy, one Treyarch guy (Sparky), and one other guy, unidentified, doing the moderation thing on those forums.) I am hoping that provides a bit of an "in". As well, one of clanmates interned at Treyarch, IIRC, so that's another connection...I hope.
Anway, read on. If I get no response, I am going to start making phone calls. If I have to, I will buy a plane ticket and visit in person. I am not kidding. I am going to get this done.
If I get a warm fuzzy from Treyarch, please be ready to submit whatever it is you think they will want to look at, apart form the fix itself. I am ignorant when it comes to this kind of thing. Sort of feeling my way forward here (don't panic...I am a professional) :wink:

As you can see, I am 10-78. I am hoping that this will in some capacity act as my bona fides, in that Busterking and the other 10-78 bosses run a ridiculously tight ship with respect to cheating/haxing. There is no gray area at 10-78. You are either 100% honest, or you are gone. Buster is a bit napoleonic that way, and well, you can't argue with success, heh.
Anyway, I have a bit of an issue. If you'll permit me, I'd like to fill in a bit of my background so you can get an idea of who I am.
Former Marine Officer, Aircraft Maintenance, primarily F/A-18 Hornets. I got out and am now a contractor. My employer is General Dynamics IT, but I work on a contract with the Corps for the KC-130 aircraft. I am located in DFW, TX, miles away from my GDIT boss in VA. Sort of out here on my own, hooking and jabbing.
Because of this, I work out of my home a lot. My work involves readiness data, from aircraft, to aircrew, to maintenance competency. As such, I spend all my time moving data from one application to another in order to produce readiness metrics. Not technically demanding at all. But I have to have access to multiple websites to do this, and I need multiple screens to ensure accuracy. The data I work with and metrics I produce get briefed all the way up to the 3-star level in both the Navy and the Marine Corps, so total accuarcy is an absolute. Well, to deal with that my employer is going to help me foot the bill (hopefully, no decision made yet, but I am not optimistic, heh) on a Matrox Triple Head to Go (TH2Go). I'm looking at getting 3 22 inch screens at 1680x1050 and run the TH2Go to them. It got me to thinking, and salivating, at the prospect of playing CoD with three screens. Besides, we at 10-78 fly and race sims as well. Turns out though that this isn't organically supported by WaW, or CoD4 for that matter.
Anyway, spent a lot of time googling as much as I could trying to research. I came across Widescreen Gaming Forums,

Apparently there is a cat who goes by "dopefish", who, during CoD4's recent run, coded his own fix. As you can see by his site here:

he's already talked to EvenBalance and EA concerning the BF series, and even submitted one of his CoD4 fixes (v1.32) to IW, IIRC.
Long story short, I am looking to formalize some sort of relationship between dopefish and you all. This is a legit issue. I have contacted EB about this, and they responded once and, as far as I know, are now ignoring me. And to some extent, I can understand this. They really have no dog in this fight per se. They are going to allow whatever it is you decide to allow...would they not? The point is, again, this is legit. All you would be doing is formally allowing people to use the hardware they already own. Who knows, this may even be a marketing bullet that could increase sales a bit. A very small bit, I admit, as surround gamers are a decided minority, but it would probably help nonetheless. I mean, check out this screenie. It's already working with your game, and it looks...

Is there any way that we can formalize this? Dopefish submits a new version everytime you all issue a patch? Someone there gives it a quick run through to make sure it's not doing anything illegal, then send it on to EB and tell them not to kick/ban for using it?
That's all I am requesting. Simple recognition for a fix that is already working.
I just do NOT want to be banned for something that is not a cheat or fundamentally unfair. And it would make the game a helluva lot more fun...
