Post subject: | Projector Question from a Noob |
I'm fairly clueless, but I was hoping someone might be willing to give me an opinion on a projector to be used for movies and gaming with a curved screen. I might go with either one or two projectors and Nthusim. Any alternative suggestions would be welcome. The graphics card(s) will most likely be Nvidia. The projector I'm currently considering is ViewSonic’s PJD5353. The price is about right for me, and the specs seem okay--but I'm definitely not an expert. The specs are: Key Features: 2,500 ANSI lumens for clear and bright images BrilliantColor™ technology provides exceptional display quality Short throw lens for large, stunning images in small spaces HDMI for true digital picture clarity 6-segment color wheel design, auto source detection, supports HD video signals & integrated speaker 3D-Ready & up to 120Hz refresh rate powered by DLP® Link Technology ECO mode & filter-less design for longer product life & easy maintenance New slim design for easy mobility One of the best warranties in the business: 3 years on parts and labor, 1 year on lamp, and free 1st year Express Exchange® service** 3000:1 contrast ratio and XGA 1024x768 native solution. With a short throw lens, it offers large images from short distances – project a 50” image from only 2.3 feet away. The projector is packed with features like multiple PC and video inputs, HDMI for HD video signals, 120Hz/3D-ready for 3D applications and integrated speaker for multimedia. With ViewMatch™ technology adjusts color perfectly, so your presentations will be rich and vibrant regardless of any setting. This projector weighs only 5.7 lbs and is equipped with energy-saving Eco-mode which lowers power consumption and extends lamp life up to 6000 hours. Post subject: | The viewsonic pjd5353 would |
The viewsonic pjd5353 would be a better option for me. The 1024x768 resolution is low and the wrong aspect ratio for films etc. i would be looking at 720p projector at least. i'd go for something like the http://www.projectorcentral.com/Optoma-GT750E.htm which you should be able to get for around the same price. Where to place the projector is critical as not all will be able to throw an image where you want, so use the throw calculater to check first. ( http://www.projectorcentral.com/ViewSonic-PJD5223-projection-calculator.htm ) Also noise can be an issue with cheaper projectors. The optoma is rated at 30 db which is quite loud. try to get the quietest one you can if you are going to be sitting near it |
