Well, I wouldn't think it's a limitation of the TH2G but of the VGA interface itself, so everything beyond that definately would call for a nother hardware (DVI Dual link).
Talking 'bout diffrent hardware: what I think the perfect setup (physically) is a 24'' center plus 2 x 15'' at 90° @1x 1640x1024 +2 x 768x1024 (that would correspond to 3180x1024 which is certainly within the given bandwith) It woluld make a decent triptychon style gaming shrine..... :D

Yes!!! ... i was thinking about that configuration my self. I may do that before Matrox gets their new box on the market.

i think they are working on 1280 by 800 for widescreen support as mentioned, which would look fine on 20" widescreen monitors and even okay on 24" dells as they scale very well :) there is someone who has 3 widescreen monitors ready for the big day :)

Omg, I can't wait to see it happen... Paddy will surely be the first (around here anyways) to have it. 3xDell 2405's on a triplehead :)

Paddy used 3 2001s for the TripleHead2Go review. If he has 3 2405s it wouldn't surprise me, though...

Also AFAIK, Matrox has told Paddy that they are working on support for a center widescreen. I've heard nothing about 3 widescreens. I myself was told by Matrox that 3840x1024 @ 60 Hz was the bandwidth limitation of the TripleHead2Go. This means that no higher resolutions than 3840x1024 can be used. This would include triple 1920x1200 resolutions as well as triple 1680x1050 and even triple 1400x1050. You'd have to go all the way down to triple 1280x800 or lower to conform to this bandwidth limitation.

There is also an issue in that most all video cards (except for some workstation cards) have a horizontal limitation of 4k horizontal pixels. This means the video card itself can't render anything more than 4,096 pixels across.

So if you want to run at really high resolutions you would need a FireGL or QuadroFX card.
Those are extremelly expensive. :?

3840x1024 isn't a really high resolution? :)

I think people should consider the opinion that three 4:3 or 5:4 monitors is better then one (or even two) widescreen monitors. In other words, you are expanding your virtual peripheral vision with more screens, not wider screens.

Considering the amount of immersion that the TripleHead2Go already provides, widescreens are not necessary. It's not like all of the reviews said "this thing is great, but I don't recommend it until it supports triplehead widescreens." They simply said "this thing is great."

I can better understand the desire for center widescreen support; plenty of people already have a widescreen monitor (as opposed to already having three). That could lead to resolution-matching issues, though, on the analog version of the TripleHead2Go. We already know 1920x1200 is out in that case, so if the center screen were to run at 1680x1050 the 5:4 left and right screens would have to run at a weird resolution of 1312x1050 or 1313x1050 to match...
