There is a Black friday deal: Origin is selling the game for 29.99 w/ free shipping. That was too good to pass up. Not sure how much longer the deal is going on. Best Buy also selling the game for half price, but only console versions.

Yeah, but for 30... I really have to question this. Let's assume for the moment that Back to Karkand is priced at US$15. If you get that, then that brings the total to $45. I got my LE copy from Amazon and paid just a tad over 50 bucks for it. That's a $5 difference for getting it on Day 1. For those who were waiting out for the price to drop, would you believe that this is worth it in the end? I ain't trying to stir up stuff. Just something to think about.

single HD5870 Eyefinity 6 Edition 2Gb runs the game on 5292x1050 medium preset 35-45 fps which is quiet playable
when I set to high it will be around 25 fps so, I stick with the medium. can I go high settings with addional hd5870 ? or should I wait for HD 7970?

Its not a competition. I was just giving people who are on the fence a heads up that there is a half-price deal going on. I wouldn't have bought it at launch for full price, but now that the eyefinity and crossfire issues are worked out, it was time to buy.

I got it for $41 on amazon 3 weeks before release LE version too. Game is well worth $60. Hell I would have payed 100 for how much time I'm going to put into this game. This is quality, this is how every game should be.

Same situation I am in with a 1 GB version of the 5870. Works pretty well on Medium but High+ drops the frame rate too much. Skyrim is even worse :(

I think the game looks pretty good on Medium, though I do wonder what I am missing from High/Ultra.

Personally unless I had a computer case & power supply more than ready for crossfire 5870 AND found a 5870 unbelivably cheap I would just hold out for a better card. Simply because crossfire setups suffer tons more issues to deal with than single card systems. Scaling for 2 cards is not always the greatest, power demands to the system and heat generated go up. Lot's of stuff there to take to mind to gain some fps.

The 6000 series seems to show much much better results in crossfire than any earlier series, so if you said you had a 6000 series I would be a bit more prone to give the thumbs up for crossfire.

I think all series are still prone to "micro studder"

So for me the best solution is to wait for the 7000 series and see what other great things it brings other than just faster processing (and new bugs im sure :D)

In tank/AA/IFV vehicles, my normal view is confined to my centre screen, but thermal show on all three screens. Anyone else get this?

My 5970 at high I get 45fps at 3324x1680. Same as 5040x1050 in portrait with bm. Right on the border of the frame buffer. No aa at all>

I am waiting for the dual gpu 7 series. Hope it is here by march. 5970 will go in backup pc or I will sell it and keep my 5830 in backup. I have enough monitors to go eyefinity on both machines without any more expense besides the 7 series card.

I also miss the missile and laser paint locking indicator. Really annoying when someone is laser painting a target for me, and I can only see the indicator on the side monitors and in a way I can't identify which is the target.

Yes, and I love it :)

Why not start folding on that computer if you going to have it in backup? :)

hello guys

im looking to jump into WS gaming soon

I got a mix of U2311H/U2312HM monitors

what is the avg fps one can expect from 6970 crossfired or 6990 at native 5670x1080 on high with or without goodies like AA/HBAO?

let's say full 64 player server

I am asking because I am interested in getting either a 7950 or 7970 as the latter is rumoured to have the same processing power as a 6990.

I will probably bump this question again in a when Strike at Karkand is available to see if the increased destruction will kill more fps.

thanks.
